In my neighborhood, it would be 0 houses with a 9 on the door. Every house in our area has either a seperate plaquard, or affixed individual numbers on the outside wall...

Yeah, he did say it wasn't a trick question though, which I found very confusing when he said it wasn't 19.

you said how many houses have a 9 on the door not how many 9s there are in the street!
ya exactly so the 99 counts as 1 not 2

if your gona count a house twice then you might as well count them all twice and then the last five six time and call it 53 elephants.

Does anyone actually live on a street where the house numbers are consecutive? Around here they go up by 4 or 6 with each house.

That's stupid.

Badly worded and just pointless. Anyway, you said 'a nine', which would only be one house.. as all the others have 'a nine' and another digit.

Theres ONE HUNDRED houses on a street.

How many of them have a NINE on the door?

(Did this at work and a surprising amount had to write it all down to get the answer)
I'd like to point out that you specified a singular ocurance, not multiples. The answer is 18. [rofl]

No 18, 99 is to occurances of the number 9, it therefore doesn't count. [rofl]

9,19,29,39,49,59,69,79,89,90,91,92,93,94,95,96,97, 98 = 18 houses with A 9.

You said the post was "badly worded." That is incorrect. "Poorly worded" is the proper diction.

The irony of the situation lies in the fact that your post points out the imporper wording of others' posts while your own post is worded improperly.
