This is not only Apple's problem. (I've had it in a watch and some other accessories) I know it looks great but the paint chips away even if you breath towards the device. With proper coating it can be avoided. But how often have you seen it done well? |

I'm having a difficult time with this article. They mentioned anodizing and paint in the same paragraph, like they are the same thing.
![]() Of course, we're talking about a product that's probably engineered to last about a year or so at most, so I can't imagine that Apple would pay top dollar for a proper hard anodizing job. ![]() |

Well, whatever process they used to coat it, it's chipping off.

Seriously you guys, stop bashing Apple when you have no idea what you're talking about. If you had bothered to read about the awesome new features of the iPhone 5 you'd know it's the new color changing feature. imagine what the internets would be like if people stopped bashing things they knew nothing about |

HAHA damn that sucks ass. I wouldn't be surprised if someone put that coating under the microscope and discovered it's cancerous. The chinese took the "try to make it even cheaper" suggestion a little bit too seriously or so it seems.
I think I'm going to wait for v2 revision aka 5S... or maybe not. |

The corporate mantra at a company I used to work at was "we do what is right". They forgot to add the "for the stockholders" bit at the end, though. I believe that the same goes for Apple. |
