GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- A Gainesville man's insufficient sight didn't stop him from protecting his house from a burglar. Based on authorities, Cevaughn Curtis Jr., 28, broke in to Arthur Williams' home in Gainesville at around 3 a.m. Curtis, authorities said, pulled on the doorway, requested to be let inside but Williams declined. Curtis then tried to push his way in to the house. The 75-year-old retired cab dispatcher, that's been legally blind for yesteryear 61 decades, opened fire on the would-be-thief who started down his home, authorities said. Authorities said Williams shot Curtis, who attempted to flee but flattened on the leading porch, inthe left side of the throat. He was taken fully to a clinic in stable condition. Authorities said Curtis was charged with theft of an occupied home and battery on an individual within the age of 65. Authorities are remembering Williams for guarding himself.
