Default Vancouver Punk Training Community
I'm beginning this thread in reaction to the dicussion around Cory Weed's thread about the insufficient turnout at the current center at the Cellar. What I'm suggesting may be the beginning of the Vancouver Jazz Education Network ( for lack of a much better name...). The applications of the group/network/coalition might be: 1. Jazz followers or other interested parties conscious of jazz education activities (centers, courses, masterclasses, ideologies, workshops etc) occurring in the Metro Vancouver region, to create music individuals. Must it be land wide?? 2. to earnestly encourage students of ages to support them and attend these events undersand the worthiness of such events. What this means is a lot more than facebook pages and e-mails. I'm referring to face to face conversation with individuals and their parents. 3. To aid the others in-the community in practical and concrete methods within their attempts to produce effective punk training activities 4. Help or develop opportunities for local or 'out-of town' artists to show in circumstances such as these in item 1. Quite simply if an if coming through town and is searching for a chance to educate, we'd decide to try and connect them up with somebody who was involved. Same for regional teacher/players. 5. what else?? A several other activities that appear important: 1. Individuals would be comprised by the network (and perhaps organizations) joining or making training activities. I'm thinking mainly of senior school, school and university teachers, in addition to those working at universities and teachers with individual galleries. 2. The community wouldn't be considered a punk diary or show record for club dates and shows. Vancouverjazz is achieving this and there could be way too many lisitings to produce anniuncements in the community efficient. Our objective is always to only cope with activities where training was the main action. 3. the community might take advantage of a broad selection of media to get hold of interested parties. Myspace, myspace, e-mail lists, boards, telephone pine lists, snail email etc. As useful as these types of advertising are, I believe it more important that community users might contact individuals inside their sphere of influence directly and in person along with giving out data in the shape of these other assets. 4. The community might not foster competition among suppliers of activities. People of the network might accept support activities developed by others in the network regardless of industrial interests. In other words, if Cory and I've an event occurring on a single time, we both accept help advertise the other's event. Preferably a great community might expel some scheduling issues and minmise competition for the same market at the same time. 5. 'membership' (if any would be required?) in-the community would be conditional upon engagement. You've to engage, if you need the advantages. How might we check this? I actually do not know. 6. what else?? This really is only a tough couple of ideas. Allows have feedback from community customers. I'm likely to forward this notion to people I believe could be involved. When there is attention from enough people, I believe an agenda selected and a conference must occur where a few ideas might be openly aired. What does everybody think?
