BTW my mother's grandmother was a infantryman in WW1 and experienced PTSD for the remainder of his life; often it was worse then other times. Her father was prior to the war ended a Army Air Corp pilot in WW2 who flew a grand total of 1 combat mission in his Mustang. He explained he never found a Japanese airplane (they'd all be shot down from the time he'd gotten there). On my dad's side his grandfather was older by the time WW1 began (remember he'd fought in the Boer War) so he got a pleasant comfortable quartermaster's job-for the whole battle. Once the war started however the British Army declined him saying that individuals employed in war crucial sectors couldn't enlist my grandmother started off like a coal miner in Scotland and tried to enlist. He latter transferred to America and started painting planes for that Douglas Aircraft Company before striking down by himself and beginning a painting business which he later offered when he retired. While my father is just a electrical engineer my Mom was a recruiting director.
