I simply read that these squiggly words and figures that we've to repeat to be able to avoid the spread of junk may serve still another purpose. It often happens that computers can't make sure of-the characters, so they send them available for all of us to understand as old magazine articles and most books are now being digitized through OCR (Optical Character Recognition). If we identify them as a result, the ''OCR machine'' results it got it right in the very first place. Then it should wind up anywhere where people active in the process need to decide, if we skip one letter or number. I believe whilst the computer requires us to create a choice it's nice. Opposite Cyborg as the saying goes in the content in the current New Scientist Magazine.
