ATHENS， Dec. 10 (Xinhua) -- Greek lawmakers approved on Saturday the 2017 budget which includes a new round of painful austerity measures in order to meet bailout goals to exit the seven-year-long debt crisis.


The budget passed with the support of 152 deputies of the two-partite ruling coalition， while 146 lawmakers of the opposition parties voted against.


The 2017 Greek state budget projects 2.7 percent growth， a 2 percent primary surplus and 2.6 billion euros (2.74 billion U.S. dollars) in new tax hikes which will be applied as of January 1， 2017 to fuel， tobacco products， coffee， telecommunications and other services.


Additionally it provides for further cuts on salaries and pensions.


Austerity policies implemented since 2010 under the bailout programs have shrank by about 40 percent the average income of Greek households， according to official statistics.


Addressing the 300-member string assembly during the debate shortly before the vote， Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras acknowledged the difficulties.


The Greek leader appeared confident that Greece was on the final stretch of a tough marathon race to reach economic recovery.


He said that 2017 will be a milestone for the debt-ridden country's exit from the crisis and the 2017 state budget was a budget of optimism and growth.


The ailing economy stabilized in 2016 and returned to growth. Unemployment was reduced from 27 percent to 23 percent and will further drop.


The Greek government will support the most vulnerable social groups as fiscal indexes are improving， Tsipras said.


The leader of the conservative main opposition New Democracy party Kyriakos Mitsotakis criticized the government that the new wave of austerity undermines the competitiveness of Greek companies and social cohesion and the targets were not feasible.


Labor unions representing the majority of public servants and private sector employees who held a 24-hour strike on Thursday ahead of the vote in parliament， have warned with a new round of protests and strikes.
