I was doing a little googling regarding adsense and smart pricing today and ran across a blog entry from over 6 years ago. It said the following.
A number of months ago it was revealed that if you use AdSense on multiple sites all from one AdSense account that the performance of one blog can impact the way AdSense converts on another blog. Up until this point it was thought that ‘Smart Pricing’ was on a site by site (or even page by page) basis but this news caused quite a stir. The article goes on to say that someone with 2 adsense accounts (2 different business structures) did a comparison whereby he put all his "junk" sites, the low earners on one account and his "premium" sites on the other. He noticed a 15% increase in revenue on his premium sites and a 3% decrease in revenue on his junk sites. So it seems clear back in 2006 that Google smartpricing has the ability to cause problems for all your sites, not just the site in question. I know this is no surprise as the fix has always been to remove ads and watch for an increase in revenue to find the offending site. Does anyone know if this is still Google policy if you are using channels? |
