Default Fukushima: Ten Sievert Hot Spots
I like how 10 sieverts are defined as 10,000 millisieverts. Real helpful.

a level that could lead to incapacitation or death after just several seconds of exposure. Oh, come on! NOW that sounds like BS. right?

Wow, what a horrible piece. I suppose if you were to sit in the little red zone for an hour, that you would die. But that drops off with the square of the distance.

If the red zone is a foot in diameter, standing 10 feet away would let you stand there for 100 hours.

What, the intensity of radioactivity drops off with the square of the distance, same as with light, which is just a different type of radiation.

Could someone please remind me of how many people have so far died in the four months since because of Fukushima?

Oh wait, it's none...
I'm guessing more folk have died from heat and lack of AC due to braniac decisions to take the nukes offline.

"The high dose was discovered in an area that doesn't hamper recovery efforts at the plant," Tepco spokesman Junichi Matsumoto told reporters on Tuesday. Yep, what a horrible piece. They totally didn't mention that the spots are just an inconvenience.

Why?
Die within hours maybe, but seconds?
sounds exaggerated.
I trust your judgment on this one. Real or BS?

10 sv/hr isn't high enough for that, though. It would take most of an hour to absorb a lethal dose at that rate.

I vote we put you in a cage, ship you to the site, and test how long it takes for you to die... for SCIENCE!
I bet he'll be happy about getting to see Jesus sooner.

Um, lethal dose is 10 seiverts.
3-6 sv hourly dosage is enough to kill if left untreated.

The article says 10 is the max the equipment could measure... so the spots are likely higher. Also, according to this

http://atmc.jp/plant/rad/?n=1

Their have been readings of 266sv per hour in the steam. How long do you think you'd last in that?

FOREVER CUZ JESUS DUH lol

1/26th of an hour would be longer than 'seconds'. Just overall bad reporting. You'd need dosages of around 2000 severts an hour to give you a fatal dose in several seconds.
I'm not an expert. That's why I vote we send you there and find out to settle this issue. That way, there is no need to squabble. SCIENCE
