I don't bother with phone insurance. At least not what carriers here offer. There's caps on replacement, always a refurb, a deductible, and the monthly cost. You could get a newer, better, device for what you pay in insurance on a phone.

That's not true. I have always received a brand new boxed phone from my insurance. Even if I hadn't, so what? A refurbished phone is just as good as a new one.

As for texting, nearly every plan in the UK has unlimited texting included.
