Yet apart from Game Of Thrones, I can't think of any of today's BIG shows that have theme tunes or intros that we'll look back on saying they rock? Maybe they weren't that good... but somehow everyone thinks of these as memorable. I mean, Knightrider and The Equalizer are classics... and Airwolf, what can you say... I mean the list is EPIC! Plus the programs just seemed so entertaining and most people could hum the titles songs, loads of them... of which here is a small selection... I could post all day ROFL... trying to think of stuff from the 90's and man, it's on one hand... and mostly British...

I reconise the Airwolf intro theme tune more than the actual intro, so the audio is far more memorable from childhood

It's like many things though, the theme tune stays the same, but the pictures are different, so no wonder I don't remember the visual aspect. A-Team, Knightrider, and Airwolf were programmes I almost always used to watch in the early 90s

When I saw the thread title I immediately knew this was another of Pug's nostalgia threads.

They didn't really "all rock", the only reason we liked the themes (or even the tv shows that proceeded them) is because we were either kids or at most teenagers with highly impressionable minds.

A theme song is just a perfunctory intro to set the mood of the tv show, nothing really more than that. I used to love most of the shows you mentioned as well.

Besides, there are a ton of modern current and past shows with great intros or theme music.

...yes, and Rome and Deadwood. All Cable shows - basically your mainstream network TV shows don't do this anymore, because it eats into quality time they could spend shoving ads in your face.

The theme songs are an important part of the old shows for me. On netflix, some programs have the theme songs replaced. Its like a punch in the face. I can't watch them that way.
