Default Why are nerds so cruel?
Maybe it's because you call them nerds.

But they were smart enough to know you were going to call them nerds.

This is all relative, too. I'm a nerd by the standards of the hood but put me in HC's clique and I'd probably be the Fonz mixed with Rico Suave and Dean Martin

I'm the same way. I always fail the nerd test when posted here.

I can imagine things from dfg's POV. Everyone must appear to be a nerd to him.

No, to dfg it would be any "person above my intelligence".

So people are nerds based on their voices?

HC has recorded his voice in some thread. As has Alby, who sounds like a ghetto gangster.

HC sounded like a weed whose balls have still yet to drop. I imagine him looking like an adolescent and effete Woody Allen - no wonder he comes across so bitter and twisted...

Interesting, some are defensive in denying they are a nerd.

Among the kids I used to blaze with I was "John the Nerd". Around here I'm more like "Felch the Pothead". Alby is right, nerd status is contextual.

I found out here, nerd is a complement. I was shocked when I found out. I guess the status and term of nerd is different to all places.
Complementary to what?

Asking around, a nerd is a person that is looked up to and would be a person of wisdom. This is what I could only ascertain.
