Do you get to pick where you go into? Like if you're good at fixing cars and computers can you choose to fix tanks OR computers or do they just shove you wherever they have room?

The Marines are a little different than the other services in that they want all their MOSs to have a good portion of the best recruits to keep standards high across the board instead of letting all the best qualified people gravitate to the more sexy jobs. They break the recruits into groups based on scores and equally distribute them amoungst the various communities. Everyone gets some rockstars, everyone gets some anchor men.

There are some exceptions for certain things that have specific requirements like pilots and EOD. They pretty much get to pick who they want of the volunteers for those communities.
