Default Serious jail time could result from recording cops
I don't know what legal basis opposition to this would have but as a matter of principle, I believe there is nothing wrong with recording officers making arrests.

We've had video recordings of police brutality. I wonder why the people who taped those incidents weren't arrested for making the recordings?

However, with this particular case, the cops were pretty nice to let her call her mother. She betrayed their trust

Even our corrupt and overowered police can be recorded on duty by any means, unless they're on a classified mission.

Radley Balko's been on this for a while now. It's amazingly brazen.

Recently, a Connecticut state senator proposed a law that would clarify a citizen's right to film the cops and would lay down penalties for messing with said civilian. We'll see if it goes anywhere.
