Default The golfing season is coming to an end.
Played nine holes Saturday and Sunday. Wasn't too cold, mid 50's both days, but the wind...damn. Gusts in the mid 30's and higher.

I was on pace both days to break 40, but holes 7 and 9 would have no part of it. Seven is a short par 3 over water. From where the markers were, I usually hit a pitching wedge (140 yds). With the wind, I went with an 8 both days...no way, it was like running into a wall.

At least I didn't go in the water, the wind moved the ball several yards right, so at least I didn't have to take a penalty stroke. Nine was directly into the wind, par 5 and i double bogied both days.

Why is it that if I play the ball factoring in the wind, the wind doesn't effect the ball flight at all, and I'm really off the fareway/green, but if i don't, the wind takes the ball and i end up with the same terrible results?

Everyone at my course, including me, are playing worse. You'd think after playing all summer we'd be better. Greens are great.

I kind of got screwed since I didn't get to play as much golf as usual due to the house and heat pump. Playing in a par 3 tourney next Saturday, a friend asked me to be his partner. They're setting up all the holes as par 3's. Should be fun.

I'll tear them up next year.

I'm hoping to get out one more time. Maybe this Saturday morning if I have time. I doubt I'll get a chance though.

And I'm debating whether or not to take my clubs to CA in December. At most one round, so I'm not sure it is worth the effort.

Besides taking more club, choke down on the club. It will promote a lower ball flight.

Even though our club is shut down, I am having a nice fall of golf. The Golf Association of Philadelphia promotes the other clubs to allow members of shutdown clubs to play with only a cart or caddie fee. We've let a lot of other club members use our course in the past and it's payback time. I've been on tour for a month at some pretty good tracks. Two more in the next week.

Finished out my fall tour this weekend at two great local golf courses. Unfortunately my putting wasn't up to the standards of the surroundings and my scores showed it. I think I'm pretty much done for the season outside of the occasional nine when weather permits.
I had a bad season scoring this year. I am going to commit to lowering my handicap by at least three shots next year and get it back to single digits.

Shot 80 today, 43-37. Birdied the first hole and no more birdies after that, came close on 17 and 18.

My partner and I won $40 in a par 3 tourney yesterday.

Finally, I broke forty over nine. Shot a 39, must be the end of the season.

Missed a hole in one by about an inch or so, it hit two feet in front of the pin, and just skirted the hole. Too bad the trail it left in the sand didn't help me birdie the hole, but it sure slowed down the putt.

Hit two guys with one stroke, landed on one guys head and then hit his partner in the face. I should feel bad, but....These guys didn't want to wait at the first tee, so they went around and started on two, the problem was, we were already putting, so that pissed me off.

On eleven, they hit their first shots, and away they went, they were on the left side of the fareway for awhile, and then i heard their cart. I thought they took off, but instead they crossed the fareway, but they were behind a ridge, so i didn't see them....until my follow through.

I apologized, but i really didn't mean it. Don't jump in front of me, and make yourself visible when other golfers are behind you.

Of course, I play my best round of the year on November 20th, when I generally have put the clubs to rest. But yesterday was such a beautiful day that I had to give it a go.
10 pars, 6 bogies and 1 double (three putts). Shot 80, but it could have very easily been a 76 if I could putt. I missed three birdie putts inside 6 feet and multiple other makeable putts. I made one putt over 15 feet, and that was it. I drove it in play all day, and hit a lot of greens.
While I didn't putt well, I was really excited with the way I hit the ball. It's so nice to finish the swing and see the ball flight you envisioned before the shot. The only bummer is that this is the first year in about 10 that I didn't break 80.

Just played four rounds in three days in Jamaica. 93, 91, 86, and 80. And I 3-putted constantly because the greeens were ridiculous. I was hitting the ball great at the end and I was bummed we were leaving.

Possible different deer woods from 3-5.

Hippie! You need to get out and golf the next couple days! Just got an email saying Parkview in Eagan is back open for business. Not often going to happen that you can golf in December in MN!
