No competition today, we played but only one guy declared because he has to be somewhere tomorrow.
Water was running across the fairways. The bunkers were full of water, etc. Good thing I didn't declare because I shot 86 and couldn't make a putt. The guy in our group who did declare shot 91 today and 85 yesterday and most likely will win B flight.

My 79 gives me a 3 shot lead in A flight so I need to throw a good one in there tomorrow as I control my own destiny.

The leader in Championship flight is at even par.

It's flat out pouring here right now. I went to go feed the dog and monster raindrops started falling. These storms are popping up out of nowhere.

The course is going to be in awful shape tomorrow if they even allow play on it.

I shot 78 today with no birdies. 41-37. 8 fairways hit, 6 greens hit and a whopping 31 putts with one 3 putt. Asst. pro thinks it's an A flight winner but now I have to wait for the rest of the scores to come in.

Total 157.

Dom guessed 155, phan52 guessed 159. They both missed it by 2 strokes so we go to the tiebreaker.
Dom said 3 birdies, phan52 said 4 birdies.
I made no birdies today so that leaves me with 2 total birdies for the weekend and makes Dom the winner.

5 grand added to Dom's acct. through the admin panel. Congratulations!

I can't believe you sandbagged those two games just so I wouldn't win $5K...bastard.

I played my guts out pal. I'm wore down just from the stress.

Left my chip short on 1 and then left a 6 footer short dead in the jaws of the cup. 3 putted 2nd hole. Duck hooked drive on 3rd hole then pushed it right into trees. 3 over after 3 holes. I even took to hitting my hybrid off of the tee instead of driver some to avoid disaster.

One of the guys in our foursome (not in the tournament, not even a member anymore) got the shanks and I had to hit after that every hole. I had the low left yanks with my driver again. It would start out left and then hook.

Did that on 15 and it caught in the high rough only about 80 yards from the tee. Hit a 7 iron to 120. Hit an easy 9 to 6 feet, Made the putt and a par.

18, popped it up into the rough. Hit a wedge. Then another wedge to 6 feet. Lipped out the putt for bogey.

Pretty damn impressive to score a79 when hooking the driver. When I'm doing that I add in about 4 or 5 penalty strokes because I'm going out of bounds.

The important question is...did you win?

I haven't called over there yet, I should do that now.

I was supposed to stay available in case of the need for a sudden death playoff and I've kept my phone close by. No one has called.

SWEET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just called and I won by 5 shots. I was up 3 on the guy this morning so he must have shot 80 today.
Me 79-78
Him 82-80

My buddy Joe won Champ flight again (70-69) so that's also cool. I always play my best rounds when I play with Joe, just watching him hit the ball and trying to keep up takes strokes off of my game. I played in a scramble with him a few weeks ago and he straightened my driver out for me, unfortunately it's went awry again.

This is great. I've won before but never as high as A flight.

I've sucked most of this season and our club championship starst next weekend. One qualifying round and then match play. I've been playing in A flight for about ten years now but my index right now lands me in the middle of B flight (12-15 course handicap). I shot my best round in a month today, 83. 3 birdies, 5 pars, 4 doubles. I don't know whether to stay where I am or play up. I usually compete pretty well in A, but I am way too inconsistent right now. I have till Thursday to decide. I can win B. A, I don't know.

Our A flight this year was 5-11 I think. Under 5 was Championship flight where they compete to get on the team to play in the Stevens Cup against all the other golf courses in the area. I was looking on the wall and see that I now have the trifecta, C flight in 2001, B flight in 2006, and now A. Funny thing is I remember shooting 80-81 to win C flight in 2001 and that's only 4 strokes worse than this year.

The reason I remember it is because I beat my buddy by 1 stroke and I rib him about it still. I had set myself on fire and was bandaged all over, had to wear long pants and a long sleeve shirt and it was hot as hell. I was still wearing a few bandages when the planes hit the next week on 9-11. That's another reference point that I won't forget.

Get out and play some golf this week and if you're on, go for A.

I won't have time to play, just get to the range. I am working something into my swing (too long to relate) that I need to burn in on the range. When I make the move, I hit the ball farther and more accurately than I have in my life and I'm in my fifties. But when it doesn't work....well, that's why I had 3 birdies and 4 doubles yesterday. Mixed reviews over 18 holes.

I think I have to go with the B flight because the necessary qualifying score can handle a few doubles, probably 87-88. For the last 10 years (since I've been in A, between a 7.5-9.5 index) it has taken at least 84 to qualify for A. If the swing change kicks in, I will be ready for match play against anybody but I don't want to take the chance of not qualifying.

B is shall be.
