So today I take the boy over to the Par-3 course a couple of blocks away. I usually avoid the place because there's not much challenge and it's generally a place for beginners to play. Plus, they don't monitor the pace of play at all...last year we waited about 20 minutes to play each hole on the back while a daycare and two teenaged boys finished the two holes in front of us. The daycare lady spent most of her time on her cell (even while swinging) and the two goofs ahead of her group retrieved balls they'd hit into the pond in front of them and hit them until they cleared it.
Anyway, none of those problems occurred today and I still stunk it up. 3-putts galore plus the worst iron shot off the tee I'd hit all year: 3-iron about 40 yards. I ended up one under bogey on a course I feel I should shoot one or two over on every day. Wrong. Every lay out has its own challenges. My son has a natural swing that needs to be developed. He got out of sports a few years ago, but this may change. He's 16 and trims his toenails with his teeth. I'm glad when I can touch my toes with my hands. |

Shitfire. Played a farmer's course in South Dakota and played like one. Couldn't hit a fairway to save my life. The Slice made a rebirth.
Greens were severely crowned and impossible for anyone used to putting on real greens. They kept the grass long so a person could put on such a severe slope. I was out of my element. Makes me question how good of a golfer I really am. |
