Well it's finally Masters week.
With all the hype that Tiger is "better than he was in 2001", even in his own words, he's under pressure to win the year's first major or make the season "just another year". Everyone knows that everything revolves around the four majors for Tiger. And since the famous "Tiger Slam", until this year there hasn't been much hype for Tiger actually accomplishing the Grand Slam. This year there seems to be a consensus that if he doesn't win all four majors it will be a huge letdown. Realistically, winning all four majors in the same calendar year is an almost impossible feat. If any one could do it, it would be Tiger. However, the media isn't realistic. It puts unreal expectations on Tiger. Seems that to the media this year, if Tiger doesn't win at Augusta to begin the major run, it would be a disaster. You have to wonder, how much pressure does Tiger put on himself to win this week? And if he doesn't win, how will it affect his psyche for the remainder of the year? Has Tiger fallen trap to all the hype? Would a loss at Augusta make him question his belief that he's improving and playing better than ever? The pressure is on, but is it fair? |
