The fresh air, yes. But you get fresh air even if you're driving around in a cart.

Exercise? Even if you walk a course, you're only walking about a mile and a half. No, golf is about being outside, taking in the surrounding beauty (there is no more perfect a spot in civilized society than on a golf course), and then obviously the challenge of the game itself. Exercise doesn't even factor to me.

As I am not a hot weather type of individual, walking with a hand cart in tow and getting stuck under scorching sun endlessly in July (yesterday, for example, it got to 102 out here) are not my ideas of fun.
I always walk, unless I've paid a fee to be in a tournament and the cart is included.

A mile and a half...only for those who hit it straight. I prefer to zigzag my way down the course and trek through woods on my way to the green.

All the twilight rates around me include a cart, and even if they didn't, I'd rent one.

Not that I golf well, but I do better when I walk, it helps me establish a rythym. Kinda like playing ball, if I'm not in the field I don't want to bat.

Goodbye, I'm going to go enjoy some scenery designed in 1957.

Be back in about 5 hours.
You'll never touch 80 or less.

caddy's are a valuable tool. In the US they are generally little punk kids (even at oak hills), however at Arcadia they aren't..and when I played in Ireland they were kinda old guys, that was damned near the coolest because those doods had caddied those courses for 30 years, it was a real treat to be honest....that trip was outstanding.

The only way I'd ever have a caddy is if he'd promise to refer to me as Big Daddy Furnuncle....Other than that, fuggedaboutit.

old man played royal st. georges and you had to have a caddy. he said he would have one every round if he could. guy was telling him where to lay up, how the greens roll. he even said on that slopped fairway that none of the pros could hit that he should just hit a wedge off the tee because that way he would be warmed up with it because his next shot was gonna be in the rough.
