this tourney is gonna be great. too bad phil has pretty much shot himself out of the tourney already. hoping for a 67 from T-Woo today. then the tourney will really be money. Majors are just much better when he is involved and lurking. can't deny it. I think overall, Goosen is repeating. his game is perfect for this tourney.
I disagree. '04 Masters was way better than the '05 Masters. Nine people under par after yesterday. I'm going to say only 2 or 3 will be after today.

If Phil had done what Tiger did in the Masters this year it would have been considered a major choke job. That it was, either way, either person. I don't have anything against Tiger, I just thought it was horrible that I had to hear about him all last year when we had plenty of great golfers playing great last year.

Tiger hasn't been the best golfer in a couple years, but you wouldn't know that listening to some people.
http://sports.espn.go.com/golf/ranki...=worldrankings

Tiger has won 3 times in 12 events including the major
VJ has won 3 times in 18 events

Tiger has 4.1 million in 12 events =340,000 per tourney
VJ has 5.3 in 18 events = 295,000 per tourney

Tiger when he plays, is better, he just doesn't play nearly as much as the other players.

I have the same problem with Tiger that I do with Barry Bonds and Jeff Gordon.

"We'll now cut away from the leader's eagle putt to Tiger Woods, 10 shots back, as he hacks out of the rough"

Tiger Woods is a great golfer, no doubt. One of the best of all time is what they pronounce him to be, well they already did that 8 years ago. Best of this generation, most likely, although this generation has a lot of golf left in them.

Thing is a lot of us are tired of having the announcers run Tiger Woods up our ass. 72 or so will make the cut. One will win. Tiger will get the coverage, win or lose. We want to watch the whole tournament, I don't need a profile of Tiger's swedish wife or a tutorial on his swing change.
you know, i agree with this. I am never a fan of any insider look of any athlete. I could care less. I only care about how the perform when i am watching them. I agree that Tiger is completely jammed up the public ass by the media, but that is what it is. All sports do this with the biggest names. Fuck, during that Miami/Detroit series, every other commercial was that Dwayne Wade flash comic book commercial. I haven't seen it once since we eliminated them. But i do agree that they should do less commentary specials and show more shots.

If you are rooting against Tiger then I suppose I must root for him...

It would be nice to see ole Lefty do something this weekend...

When does he tee- off?

just once, i would love to see all of the Big 5 within a shot of each other going into the final round. I wouldn't be able to leave my TV if that happened.
I wouldn't be able to do a lot of things.

Much like, .... now.

No doubt, I'm glad to hear NBC called it the Big 5 now. Goosen deserves that, guy is huge when it counts. Looks like we almost what you want and I agree, looks like we have a good one on our hands, all of them are going to be at the top of the leaderboard after today, except Phil.

he's money right now. i think he has got this thing in the bag. Tiger's putter isn't working nor is VJ's. Maybe Toms can give him a run. Gore and Hensby and all the other no names i suspect will shoot above 75. Goosen has this tourney on lock down. His is unflappable. To play the way he did down the stretch after those 2 bad holes was amazing.
boy am i wrong. fucker is going down like the Titanic.

I understand your agrument, but it really doesn't fit with what I said. What'd Phil shoot on the back nine that year, 30? Tiger backed into a playoff.
Okay, Mr. super bowl. I understand this argument COMPLETELY.

Champ.

-2 is the lead now. +8 is the cut line. wow. very nice leaderboard. Goosen, Toms, Garcia, Singh, T-Woo, Westwood, Scott, Furyk all within 3 shots. looks to be a very entertaining weekend of golf.
I'm gonna be a rating, myself.

CAn someone please remove chris berman from the announcers booth? He is making me quite angry, what a joke, this fatass should not be anywhere near a golf course ESPN
agreed. Golfing announcer are rather humorous most of the time and why they decide to bring out Berman is beyond me. I would just as well have David Feherty, Johnny Miller and Gary McCord crack on the players when the fuck up. that's funny.
