On a side note, 5 years ago, a 12 year old at my club was being harassed by several older members. The young man was nothing short of courteous and polite back. I took him to play with me an the older gentlemen left him alone. I explained to his parents what had happened and this young mans dad used it as a teachable moment for his young son. Fast forward 5 years, this now 17 year old is one of the top juniors in the southeast. He is a 3 time state champion and is a division 1 college recruit. He still has as pleasant a demeanor and is kind to everyone, even those who may not deserve it.
