Default Reccomendation after a long layover.
Until today, I hadn't picked up a club in well over 6 months, but I want to get playing right away, do you think a couple of range sessions would work or one or two and then start playing?

Range and get yourself an Orange Whip or Gold Flex. Good way to get back into golf shape and get your swing back in the groove.

Don't start back or you might incur some brain damage . Naw get out there, hit you a bucket of balls, and go have a ball. Have fun and don't expect too much.

If you have to get out there ASAP, I highly recommend a short Par 3 course where you only play with 7i to SW & Putter. Whenever my game goes awry to go back to basics and find my way back. Good luck!

I made the mistake of expecting too much and whiffed\topped/duffed and shanked everything except my last 20 balls when I was going solid

Practice your short game. Leave the driver at home. Play from the front tees. Go have fun.

Invest 15-20 minutes before hitting anything - every time - to stretch out and loosen up. Your back, hips, etc.. will thank you later.
