Oh well so much for taking time off. Had a friend call and we played this morning, 8 pars, one bird, back on track! Well maybe
That is AWESOME! Congrats!

I've been tempted to take some time off, but then convinced myself to relax and swing with my body, not my arms, and went out Sunday night and killed the ball. I'm in golf league tonight, where I've been struggling. If I can convince myself to relax and just swing, instead of trying to steer the club into the ball, I should do okay.

I know how you feel I've been having the same problem for the last few months and I can say that taking break does help! I haven't played in about a month and that has really helped to clear my head and I feel that I'm ready to get back out there and play again soon.

Thanks all, I really planned to take more time off but this friend has never asked me to play as he only plays about once a year so I could not tell him no. But I do intend to stay away from the range for a while longer.

I'm struggling with some demons myself --- my swing is gone - now i am overthinking everything to the point that I can't even hit a PW with confidence -- soooo many swing thoughts and "corrections" that it is making it worse with every swing. The slice with my driver I got rid of two years ago has also worked its way, quite suddenly, back into my repertoire ! Sooo frustrating at times !
I made it a rule to not think about my swing at all when I'm playing and it seems to work well for me. Its actually amusing to play with my buddies and watch them over-analyze their swing and start going down hill. I did this once this season and shot a +13 on the last 3 holes...NOT GOOD! Now when I get to the ball I try to take about 3, maybe 4, seconds to hit the ball.

Don't think on the course, that's what the driving range is for.

Reminds me of the Bob Hope line where is game is going south so he takes a lesson from his pro. He takes a few swings turns to his pro and says "what do you think?" The pro says "If I were you I would take two weeks off then quit." Game comes and goes. Stick with it.
