Average shot is probably within 20. Although on a good day, I think i hit the 12-15' range quite a bit. But since we said average, I went with average.

I voted for under 15' b/c that's just being honest. I can get closer a lot of the time and I can be further some of the time. I don't get intimidated by this distance at all, and I would be licking my chops if it were my 2nd shot on a par 4 or my 3rd on a par 5. However, sometimes that's what puts me in that > 15'
I'm in this boat of thinking. It's a lot easier to hit a green from 40yds out than it is from 100yds out. The bigger concern is what's around the green that could be a problem. Is there a hazard or wide open in front? What's behind the green? How big of a hazard do I have in front of me, and how much room between it and the pin? Thinking like that has made a significant difference to me.

Why wasn't "In the hole" an option?

I'm almost always on the green. Distance from the hole will vary from 2 feet to 40 feet though.

Well, after I fluff, or fat the first shot, then ext one from 35 yards away I hope to be inside 15 feet. I also do not like to put mysel in that spot though. Either lay up to a number, or go for the green. 40 yards out would be a big mistake for me.

I actually like this distance. When your GAIR percentage is hovering around 85% you really start to get comfy with these types of shots.
I am in the boat too Hawk....I hit alot of short pitches and chips....I voted for 10-15 feet....but I would probably be inside 10 feet about 30% of the time.

I can get up and down maybe 25-30% of the time, mostly due to missing the putts. I can hit a little half LW that hops and stops and usually aim it at the hole.

I very rarely end up with a 40 yard shot to the green, that's poor course management if you have a lot of those IMO
As long as there is plenty of green to work with I'd rather have a 40 yard pitch then anything longer. Plenty of holes that I try to get close to the green, but when the pin is tucked I'll lay back as to put some spin on it.

I'd be happy with 5' from 40, respectable 10' and not too pleased with anything higher.

I don't get this shot too often (usually shortish par 5s where I just try to get as close as possible, which some people don't like but I do), but when I do, I expect to be inside 15. Obviously it depends on the green conditions, but on average, anything outside 15' would be a disappointment.
