We've decided to do it. We're adding a GPS to our burgeoning batch of equipment. A Bushnell Yardage Pro XGC will arrive well before Christmas to find a spot under the tree as a present for the family. After reading JB's and other reviews we decided this is the way to go. I verified with the WI PGA today that it's allowed in their junior events, and while GPS and range finders are not currently allowed in high school golf in Cheeseland, they may be within the next few years. Jr. Lancer made the call for the GPS over a laser as she will be the primary user. I hope she'll show me how to use it.
The price Mrs. Esox found sealed the deal. $249 less a $10 coupon code less the $100 rebate offered by Bushnell less a 2-3% Bing cash back rebate. Free shipping. It's almost like they're paying us. It's been a fun couple days for the Esox family. Last night was ladies night at the golf dome (free range balls and swing tips from local pros) and Jr. Lancer had a video done of her swing by one of the pros. He complimented her swing and she was beaming. A Ping rep was there and she hit a men's Ping G15 driver with a senior shaft and absolutely smoked a couple. She'll be ready for that flex most likely by the end of next season or maybe before. We also ordered a training aid that should help her avoid an inside takeaway. Finally, this afternoon we paid a visit to the new to us semi-private club where we'll be members next year. We met with the owner/pro and signed on the dotted line. We had not met him, though Jr. Lancer's coach runs the junior program there. He was a great guy, explained our membership choice well, and was attentive to my daughter. Very professional. The club offers a multitude of events for men, women, and kids. I'm looking forward to playing some competitive golf again after not having done so for a couple years. They have a men's tournament every Saturday morning, and I see a bunch of 36 hole Saturdays in my 2010 summer. The club makes junior golf a high priority. Jr. Lancer will be able to hang around the course and practice and play with other kids, where this was impossible at our last club. The pro said he already has a young girl in mind as a playing companion for Jr. Lancer. Another tween that loves golf. That's exciting for us, as serious golf for a tween girl can be a bit lonely at times. Not many 12/13 year old girls have an interest. Oops, this post really got away from me. Anyhoo, evil technology has snared us, too. I'll have to stop saying I'm a feel player. Kevin |
