Something posted in the "Walking in my line" post made me curious about this.
Do you always play "honors" on the tee, or do you play "ready golf". I will usually go along with the group. I prefer "honors" because I think it is a privilege earned on the previous hole, but I am not a stickler about it. I have played in groups where one of them was so slow that everyone would tee off and still have to wait while he got ready to tee off. In those cases, "honors" goes out the window to maintain everyone's sanity. |

Really depends on the guys i'm playing with. Some are Honors only and some are ready golf.If I'm playing golf with the ready golf fellas,I WILL NOT hit in front of a Birdie,They earned that privilege to hit with honors. |

I play ready golf 99% of the time. I am like JB, I like to keep the round moving. Often the women that I play with are fairly short hitters so it just makes sense for them to tee off first so that everyone isn't waiting for the group in front of us to clear the fairway.
But like most, if the people I am playing with want to play honors I have no problem with that. |

I normally do ready golf. Whoever wants to tee of first is welcome to. If Im playing a tournament or with some serious golfers who want to keep score and stick to the rules I will definetly do honors because thats technically the "correct" way to do it but even if I have the honor Im OK with someone else teeing off first.

It generally depends on a few factors... but the tendency is to play ready golf. If we are up with the group ahead and everyone is ready to go, then honors takes precedence. If we are off pace because of a ball search or such, then we play ready golf. Honors given only if the recipient is ready when it's time to play.
I know almost nobody who is bothered by not getting honors on the tee. Most of the guys I play with play in the Men's Club and even in stroke tournaments we don't worry about honors, or who's away, or other such irrelevancies. Pace of play is the prime consideration. In match play, order of play is a Rule of Golf, so then honor is observed. |
