Default Golf and First Aid
What first aid items do you carry in your bag "just in case?" AND, has your preparedness ever paid off in a round-saving way?

I always check to make sure I have bandaids. Without them many a round would not have been completed.

Band-aids, Benadryl because I've broken out in hives on the course and a few Epi-pens, which I've never had to use on the course - knock on wood.

Ebow, ankle, and knee braces in the bag. Bandaids and tape, insect repellent, sunscreen. I have twisted my ankle so badly I could not have continued without the ankle brace. Ditto for the knee brace, there are times I can hardly walk without it. I can still play without the elbow brace, but the wincing aftermath of my swing in ugly to watch.

I accidentally banged the back of my hand into something sharp on the back of the cart and would have had to withdraw because of blood getting on everything if not for the tape and bandaids.

Insect repellent, band aids, and the most important for me glucose tablets. The tablets have come in handy more than once.

first aid kit, tape, sun screen, insect repellent. The round always starts with Sunscreen and bug spray - I've used tape on my fingers (I should add second skin), bandaids/neosporin for cuts and blisters.

Knee brace never sees the bag. It's ALWAYS on my left knee.

I have bandaids, Tylenol and sunscreen wipes in my bag. I seem to have to replace the bandaids once a year for some reason.

I also carry a small bottle of rubbing alcohol to wipe any area of contact with poison ivy. Unbelievably allergic to the little red-stemmed devils.

I don't consider insect repellent or sunscreen to be first aid.

I don't carry any first aid gear. I suppose it is a great idea, but I have never thought about it. There have been times when I probably could have used a first aid kit, but my round was over anyway due to the severity of injury. I do carry clean towels, so I guess those are my first aid kit.

Well.....if an item can prevent the use of first aid items wouldn't you consider that first aid?

I always carry a granola bar with me in case my BG levels get too low. I started doing this a couple of years ago after I got really low and phoned the clubhouse for an energy bar. They sent the marshall out there within 5 minutes and didn't charge for the bar.

UGH, I got poison ivy last week looking for a ball. Everywhere from head to toe including places you really don't want poison ivy rashes. I need to keep that in mind. I didn't know rubbing alcohol would prevent the rashes.

Kind of like prophylactic medication? No - I don't think of them that way, but yes I suppose they are.

Gots a doctor? Give the office a call and tell him (or the nurse) you want a generic Medrol Dospak. Very inexpensive. You start out with like 6 tabs the first day and the dosage decreases daily. The poison ivy will be GONE in a few days!

There is an oil in poison ivy leaves called urishol (spelling). It contains the allergens for poison ivy. Alcohol will wipe the oil clean instead of smearing it. It will also prevent what you did by getting that oil on your hands and then touching various parts of your body. The unfortunate news is that poison ivy also spreads systemically (as told to me by a dermatologist) and that's why you really need the Dospak.

Were you golfing naked or just touching yourself during the round?

Wowsers! Can touching yourself during a round be beneficial to one's game?

Awesome! I thought I had chiggers at first and didn't bother washing my hands after every time I had a scratch. It was a few days after I had it that I realized it was poison ivy.

To be on topic, I don't carry any medical stuff in my bag, but I will soon change that. Bandaids, rubbing alcahol, athletic tape and bug spray will go in the bag.
