Default When Harry met 'Sally'....Claire
So--yesterday, Harry, Hubby and I played Chambers Bay. http://www.chambersbaygolf.com/layou...=173&page=3342

It absolutely lives up to its reputation. It chewed us up and spat us out, but it was fabulous and we loved it. Harry is even a normal human being!

I had no idea you two had plans to meet. I think that's great! I am so glad you all are having a good time.

Or maybe you just rode in the cart all day while claire played golf, of course you brought your laptop along.

No carts at Chambers Bay. It's a walking only course.

Harry had to test out his bagboy. They do allow pushcarts.

One person in a foursome pushing a cart does like pretty dorky... .

Hey, can some mod fix the title on this thread? Obviously, I couldn't get the spoiler tags to work properly. Thanks.

Are you drunk?

Also, I think you wanted strikethrough tags, not spoiler. But I don't think tags work in titles.

No, but you did look kinda dorky pushing that thing. And even dorkier when you forgot it was a push cart and tried to pull it.

Yeah, strikethrough tags.

Just my pride Shanks.

My irons (save a few regrettable club choices) were fine, but my putting was deplorable (I couldn't get the hang of the fescue greens or the massive undulations) and my driver was woefully inconsistent. Some drives were brilliant, others were snap hooks. I just couldn't predict it. And at Chambers Bay, once you are in the junk, it's over - ankle to knee high native grass on hills of dirt. (I need to work on my escape shots.) My bunker play was also unpredictable - a couple of great outs, followed by pure hacking. Strangely, while others headed into the enormous waste areas with their errant shots, mine almost always went straight into the grass.

But let me tell you, even taking into account my embarrassing play, Claire and her husband (who has a darn good iron game) made the whole experience more fun than a barrel full of monkeys. We went for Chinese after (we did NOT Karaoke despite the opportunity) and I didn't get home until well after midnight. I think we all agreed that it should be an annual event.

Also, although I had walked the course before, this was my first time playing Chambers Bay. I love that course. Aside from the beautiful views, the course itself is magnificently laid out. So many different types of challenges. You can definitely see why it was awarded the U.S. Am (2010) and the U.S. Open (2015) after only being open for 6 months. It is, however, terribly expensive.

Nope. We both managed to forget our cameras. But it was a blast, and I have a new favorite golf course.

The part Harry left out: we were chatting away endlessly after dinner (totally baffling Hubby by dishing everyone here). My cell phone rang--it was my mother, who after all these years, was worried about me being out with a man she didn't know. What a hoot! (Until I do the same with Boo.)

Fixed for truth! hehehe

Next time, and this is a warning to MO and Jeff, I'm bringing the camera!

Okay, Smallie--here are a couple of pictures. http://www.thehackersparadise.com/fo...19&postcount=7

Edit: the lone pine is on the signature hole, a flying downhill par 3. I pulled out my 7 iron, said I'd aim for right in front of the tree, and let it funnel down to the green. Nailed it.

It's always fun to put a face to an avatar. It's good you were finally able to meet after all these years of being online friends and even better that it was for a round of golf.

And cool to do it twice in a season!

We have some great courses here in Wisconsin Claire if you ever make it here. Plenty of people to attend an outing as well.
