You replace your ball as close as you can to its original spot before it got hit (should be easy, if it was on a green there will probably be some sort of mark). You play from there with no penalty.
Your playing partner plays from where ever his ball ended up. If it's in the hole it's a hole-in-one, if it goes in the water or OB he takes the penaltys, if it stays on the green he putts from there. |

Par three. 200 yards. Lake right next to the green. You hit your tee shot and it lands Ten feet away from the pin and about 20 feet from the water. Your playing partner hits next. His tee shot hits your ball on the fly and knocks it into the lake. What next? ![]() |

Hopefully, you have another ball in your bag. What if your ball in an official tournament is lost by an outside agency and you get a free replacement like the example here, and you don't have another ball the same make and model and neither does your playing partner? Maybe it is on the last hole and you are on your last ball. Would that be a DQ? Or would there be a special consideration because of the circumstances? |

With that in mind, it begs another question... |

This almost exact thing happened on the Canadian tour 2 or so weeks ago. Your partner plays his/her ball from where ever it came to rest after striking your ball. Your ball gets replaced (as close as possible) to it's resting spot after you hit it.
YouTube - Shot of the Day: Leif Olson's crazy ace wins him a new car! Notice in the video the moved ball was replaced. While Olson took home a new car! |
