So, Fred Armesin and Carrie Brownstein (from Sleater-Kinney) are doing a show about Portland called Portlandia! I'm pretty excited about it. Here's a teaser:

That does look fun. I almost choked during this part:

Woman in restaurant: We do have a question about the chicken.
Waitress: Absolutely. His name was Colin. Here are his papers.

Yeah...Portland is the mecca of organic, free range, local ingredients in everything, and vegan food. I laugh about it because I live in Portland. heh.

"Episodes" - This new comedy sounds promising... even with Matt LeBlanc. It also starrs Tamsin Greig and Stephen Mangan (Black books, Green Wing!)

^^I watch "How It's Made" all the time! It's really neat stuff. Plus, I love that my 7 year old likes to watch it. Today I saw how marbles were made. Really cool!

Showtime has finally recast Andy Whitfield's lead role in Spartacus.
I'm sure it's no accident that they picked someone who looks like him (though he also looks a bit like Sam Worthington to me).

Australian actor Liam McIntyre will take over the role as the fierce Thracian warrior in Starz’ cult hit series.

The decision comes after a lengthy and difficult process to find a new lead on the show after star Andy Whitfield had to depart the series to resume treatment for cancer. Earlier this month, Starz decided to move forward with a second season as the number of contenders for the role narrowed.

“Since no one can really replace Andy, we realized that we should instead find an actor who can truly lead Spartacus forward,” said Starz president and CEO Chris Albrecht in a statement. “It was important to us to have Andy endorse the idea of recasting this part, which he did in the same heroic manner that he’s dealt with his whole ordeal. And that, coupled with our fortune in finding a young actor with the gladiator credentials and the acting ability of Liam, makes it easier for us to keep this hit franchise going.”

The actor, who was recently seen in HBO’s The Pacific, beat out a field of contenders that included Stephen Amell and Aiden Turner. McIntyre also appeared in Aussie series Neighbors and Rush. The Spartacus saga returns on Jan. 21 with the premiere of prequel series Gods of the Arena (trailer here). Season two of Spartacus: Blood and Sand will debut next year.

I believe it's been on elsewhere previously, but just last week PBS started airing Downton Abbey in the US and I loved part 1. They re-air it a few times and you can watch it on pbs.org. I hope I get time soon to watch part 2. I love British period pieces. It's got such a Gosford Park vibe, while being so different too.

Seriously. I posted nearly the exact same thing on another forum. The trying to have a baby thing was enough of a downer. I just started to warm up to Marshmallow and now he's going to be (justifiably) upset and I'm going to end up disliking him more than Ted.

this week's episode of Portlandia has me in a fit of giggles.

Aimee Mann guest stars as herself... and Fred & Carrie's cleaning lady. there's also a crack about Tori. and the pinata bit (which i won't give away the surprise) is all kinds of hilarious.

I really wish Fringe would do away with the term "Walternate." It's hard to take them seriously when they say it.
OMG, now they're saying "Fauxlivia" as well. Stop it. *stabbity*

I did! I missed the second ep but plan to catch up. I'm not big on reality competition shows but this one is pretty good.

Also, I've been into The X-Files lately. All the seasons are streaming on Netflix and I'm working my way through season 1 at the moment. I forgot how good it used to be!

So, I've been looking forward to Game of Thrones (thank you HBO!) ever since it was announced over a year ago... and now it finally has a premiere date: April 17!

Conan O'Brien and New Media - An interesting article about Conan's embrace of Twitter/FB etc. after the Tonight Show debacle, including...

NBC's final separation agreement prohibited O'Brien from performing a show on another network . . . and from making disparaging comments about NBC Studios, Jay Leno, Jeff Zucker, and a small group of other NBC executives. . . . 'Wait a minute!' Someone said, 'Does that include Twitter? No. It doesn't include Twitter.' And so I started tweeting."

NBC was far from happy. "The network isn't crazy about you tweeting. They're not sure that's cool," O'Brien recalls being told. His response was simple: "Tell them I would be thrilled if they shut down my Twitter account. I'd love it if that got out. You think PR's been bad up till now? Wait till you take away my Twitter account."

I just got finished watching the first episode of The Cape. Mostly because James Frain is in it. Eh... not sure what to think. He was good, though.

I have cable again after a break of 8 years (?) or so? I'm loving the Science Channel. "How It's Made" and "How Do They Do It?" are great.
