Several new shows that have grabbed me:
Game of Thrones (HBO)- Into the 2nd episode, this is looking good. The Killing (AMC)- Wow, another AMC winner (following the Walking Dead). |

I'm very excited, been watching the trailers and it sounds like they're going to be following the storyline from the fourth book, where Eric loses his memory when a spell is placed on him and he has to stay with Sookie. It's my favourite part of the series so I can't wait to see it acted out! ![]() Right now, this is what I'm watching regularly: 1. The Killing (AMC)- outstanding! 2. Masterpiece Theater (PBS): South Riding- period pieces are usually good. 3. Game of Thrones (HB))- Keeping me interested, outstanding cinematography, intrigue, lots of nude women, and the possibility of a dragon, always a plus. ![]() 4. Modern Family (ABC)- Currently the best comedy I am aware of. Waiting for: 1. Walking Dead (AMC) new season- excited. 2. Dexter (Showtime) new season- anticipating. 3. True Blood (HBO) new season- accepting but disappointed, they've screwed up this story multiple times. |

Enjoying the new series of the Apprentice even if the name is rather silly and misleading now. Nothing like watching a bunch of arrogant twats making dicks of themselves. Alan Sugar in several series has already shown that he hates back chat, metaphors, arrogance and bull shit yet they still all lay it on thick and fast.

3. True Blood (HBO) new season- accepting but disappointed, they've screwed up this story multiple times. I mean, all the stuff with Tara is obviously completely different. But somehow, it was okay. I think because I figured that the books are completely Sookie-centred and a good show has multiple facets. |

Just finished the 1st season of The Killing- very entertaining. Somehow I got this into my head it was a mini-series and I was going to see the end. Wrong! There's a Season 2. Nothing is resolved! Anyway, I'll be staying tuned.

I need to start watching Game of Thrones... too many people I know have been saying great things about it for me to not watch it.
I just finished watching Seasons 1-6 of Weeds, and Season 7 will start up on Monday. I also watch most of the shows on USA... Covert Affairs and White Collar started up two weeks ago, and Burn Notice starts this week, along with one of their new shows... Suits. The next season of Big Brother starts up in another week I think, so I'll most likely be watching it as well. Oh, and I watched the premiere of Falling Skies... if you like serial dramas, aliens, war, or any or all of the above... go watch it. It felt to me like Battle Los Angeles meets Jericho. |

I thought that Falling Skies compared favorably with The Walking Dead... some similarities in the premise, but enough different that it can't be called a ripoff. I watched the second episode on Monday, and I thought it was every bit as good as the first one. I think that it definitely has promise, and I wish more networks would do shows like this... well, cable networks since the broadcast networks seem to destroy anything along these lines. These lines being serial dramas with a sci-fi or supernatural feel to them. Like Jericho, FlashForward, The Event, V, etc., etc., etc.
Hopefully it'll be one of the shows that makes it... I'd like it better if it was being shown on USA though, since they have a knack for working the character driven shows, and could use a good serial drama to go along with Burn Notice (the closest thing they have to one right now). Their marketing is out of this world, and the last time they had a show crash and burn was The Starter Wife back in 2008, and they've launched a good 5 more shows in that time frame. Which brings me to Suits... I mentioned it last week. Holy hell is it ever good. The two main characters play incredibly well off of each other, it has good witty banter and humor, and a penchant for saying shit and goddamn. Some people have taken issue with the language and I completely disagree... it gives realism that television lacks. The kind of characters we see on a lot of television shows would be dropping "fuck" every third word in some of the situations they're in... yet censorship requires them to act as though they're perfect boy scouts that never say anything worse than damn. ![]() I recorded USA's latest show... Necessary Roughness, which premiered along with the Season 3 premiere of Royal Pains. I'll probably get around to watching it tomorrow (well, today) when I get off of work and before I head to the gym. Oh, and I watched the Season 7 premiere of Weeds yesterday as well... I thought it was a pretty strong opening. I was trying to figure out where they were going to go with the series after the way that Season 6 ended. I would've liked a more solid end to the Esteban storyline... but that show hasn't necessarily ever been good about bringing real conclusions to them. Which probably goes along with their penchant for bringing characters back years later... like Celia's daughter in Season 5 after she was exiled to Mexico following the pilot episode. ![]() |

Anyone here think that regular broadcast TV for the most part SUCKS? It is why a subscription to the likes of HBO, Showtime, or Stars, etc is a must.
Glee, Biggest Loser, NCIS, NCIS, NCIS, Survivor, CSI, Criminal Minds, XFactor, XFactor Results, CSI NY, and tons of reality bases shows, how to buy, fixup, decorate a house, unbelievably awful social programs like Housewives of Bitchtown (made that up ![]() Now that I have that off my chest, what shows are you excited about for the fall season...any? Considering: *New: Terra Nova (Monday, Fox, 8pm)- could be good, could suck. Logic question- If you go back in time to populate the land of the dinos, would'nt it be possible to eradicate your modern existence to begin with? *New:Person of Interest (Thur, CBS, 9pm)- the premise is iffy to me, but if it has JJ Abrams name on it, I have to give it a chance. *Parks and Recreation (Thur, NBC, 8:30pm)- I've heard a lot about this show. I'll have to give it a chance. All Ready Watching: *Modern Family (Wed, ABC, 9pm)- if it continues like previous seasons, a must comedy watch. *Walking Dead (Sat?, AMC)- Loved the first 6 episodes. *The Killing (AMC)- This pulled me in. Some think as what was supposed to be a mini-series, the first murder should be over, but it's not. I tend to think it has just a little too much time on it's hands to explore interpersonal relationships. *Boardwalk Empire (HBO, Sunday)- Not my favorite, but good enough to watch. I've liked Steve Buscemi more in other roles, like Fargo and The Island. *Game of Thrones (HBO, Sunday)- Can't wait for this to come back (Jan?), but it pisses me off that they can afford this but not to continue Rome or Deadwood- bastards! ![]() *Masterpiece Theater (PBS, Sunday)- Not all the time, but there is some good stuff like Dowton Abbey... Abandoned: *True Blood- How to ruin a great vampire series. I know I'll get some disagreement on this. I'm sorry but the Sookie Stackhouse series was not substantially about all things gay. I have nothing against gays, just when a producer/director decides to change everything around in the story and I mean everything! |
