Just got back from my first 5k race. I feel like a real runner now!
![]() It was seriously a lot of fun. It wasn't a huge number of people (about 100) but to be in a pack of runners like that was still a huge motivational lift. I'm actually considering signing up for another one in 3 weeks. ![]() As for the results, I actually did a LOT better than I had hoped. Going into the race, all I wanted was to complete it in under 30 minutes. Well, I beat that by a good margin. ![]() I crossed the finish line at 25:04. Unfreakin-believable, I thought. After the first mile, the guy yelled out 8:01 to me. I though, oh crap, I'm never gonna keep this up. Well, after figuring it up, I actually didn't slow down too much. For the whole 5k, I averaged an 8:04 minute mile. I can live with that. :P Anyway, thanks to everyone for the support and a big thank you to Patty for getting me to sign up for this race in the first place. ![]() |
