Today I do W3D3. With each run I can tell that my endurance is increasing. This isn't bad, as you know, but I risk hurting myself the longer I run. One day my shoes will arrive and I'll be a happy guy. Right now I'm just kinda hanging in there, waiting.
I started taking a glucosamine/chondroitin supplement which should help my joints. I know I can run W4D1 without any trouble, as long as my knees hold up. Thanks to you I took up the C25K program, and I sure am grateful that you shared it. You're so right! It can be a life changer. Not only can we lose weight on Atkins but we can get moving too. Thanks also for the good shoe tips. They should make a difference for me. |

I began the C25K running program and it was immediately apparent that I needed a good shoe. So I ordered the Brooks Addiction 5 on Feb 25. Good Lord it takes forever for them to get here! They said 7 to 10 business days and today is day 7. I never realized it would take this stinking long. I had to order them from runners world as we only have cows and corn around here. No running shoe store for miles. My knees have begun to hurt as I am now at the end of week 3 and I don't want to get injured! I'm just being impatient I guess. :x

I had a pair of Asics Cumulus IV, which came in wide widths. I found the wide width via catalog.
Currently, I'm using Nike Pegasus. It's not a wide width, but it's much roomier than the regular Asics. I wear a 9 in these (my other running shoes have been 8-8.5; 7.5 regular shoes). I believe that New Balance all come in wide widths. Many of the sites that sell running shoes have customer review, which give good insite to the fit. You can try roadrunnersports.com. |

PH, I [try] to only eat carbs like that before an especially long run where I'm more concerned about the distance than losing weight. I consider my morning runs "weight" runs, where I want to burn as much fat as possible. I was shooting for a minimum of 12 miles today, so I felt needed some extra carb stores.
Jonathan, being the queen of cheap shoes, it was hard for me to spend $80 on running shoes every few months. It's worth it, tho. It's the only real investment in the sport. You may want to try socks with "Coolmax" or some other type of wicking material. They'll keep your feet drier and blister-free. If your shoes get wet, stuff them with newspaper and they'll dry faster. ![]() |

Well, officially i'm on Wk 5 day 2 tomorrow but had to delay day 1 till today (confused)?
My dd has been poorly so had to postpone till today. Extra rest meant.. I went out and did the straight 20 mins!! Only intended to see how it went but it went by so quickly! So, tomorrow as no rest day I'm going to do Wk 5 day 2 as a straight according to plan run. Then Aerobics tues, Run Wk 5 day 3 again on Wed. Then Week 6 here I come! ![]() out there.. sorry to hear ur shoes haven't arrived. I'm sure you'll do great in the run though. I mentally broke it down into 5 min sections as was testing myself. I just kept saying... another 5 mins.. and it wizzed by. Good luck ! |

I feel for you. I went thru several pairs of shoes, trying to get the ones that were right for my feet. I have plantar f???? (can't spell it) and really need a cushioned shoe. I went to 3 different running stores and 5 pairs before I found the right ones. This killed me, because I'm usually the queen of cheap shoes.
It really helps to be able to try on the different styles. I also found that I need a wide 'toe box', and one pair I had was way too tight. They're all between 1/2 and 1-1/2 sizes higher than my regular shoes. I also replace the insoles with a more cushionee one. Good luck, and I hope you get them soon ![]() How is the program going? What week are you on? |
