Wow.. marcy that is a fantastic walk and amount you are raising!
I am aiming for a 5k run, for cancer research and hoping to raise as much as possible, but very much doubt I can raise £2000.

Good luck preparing and I hope your friend is recovering well.

Good for you Patty! I just registered and went to the orientation for the 3DAY last week! Now I have to get busy fundraising. We each have to raise $2000.00 to fight breast cancer. I am walking for a friend of mine (coincidently her name is Marcy too!) who is in her final rounds of chemo right now.

I am really excited to be participating. I am a little nervous though about the ramifications of being there for 3 full days and living atkins. I mean, I will have to eat the meals that they provide, and I'm sure they will be full of carbs. Breakfasts will be ok, because I've heard they have eggs and bacon (they also have french toast, waffles, etc. but I will stay away from those!)

Obviously I am not worried about gaining weight over the event (after all, I will be walking 60 miles!), but I am concerned about what effect the carbs will have on my system. Obviously I will stay away from desserts and straight sugar, but I hear they have a spaghetti dinner the first night, and I won't be able to not eat, so I'm concerned. Any feedback?

THanks!

Marcy

Marcy, I wouldn't worry too much. You will have been on this for a while by then. If worse comes to worse, you'll just take 3 days off, but watch the sugar. You're sure to burn off all the carbs you eat while walking.

That is so amazing. I never heard of it until recently, and am really interested. I can't imagine walking 20 miles a day for 3 days!

Default well ... I registered
for the NJ Shore Marathon on April 25th. I know that I'm side-lined at the moment, but today was the last day of registration. I'll probably need another week off from running. I figure that since it isn't actually a running-related injury, I should be able to get back on track.

I ran 4-miles yesterday, and all the pain came back. The run itself was fine, tho. I don't think I'm going to attempt the 8-miles scheduled for tomorrow (Sunday). Hubby will be away next week, so I won't really be able to do my morning runs anyway (I can't leave the kids alone).

Hopefully, if I'm better by the end of the week, I can attempt next Sunday's 12-miler That will be farther than I've ever run. If I can't do it, then I'm out $65. As far as I'm concerned, I'm still in the game

That is usually around the time we start surf fishing. We are usually leaving the park while the race is going on. (we are there all night & leave in the moring) If we are down there and I see you I'll root you on

That's the one! It's close for me, and it's a good time of year. I really fair poorly in the heat, so I get to train in the cooler weather. The leg isn't doing any better, now, tho, and I'm starting to have my doubts.
