Default Been doing some reading in my Yoga manual
and WOW what an inspiration!!!!

The man that wrote this manual, is also the man that my instructor works for. His name is Yogi Shalom (Charles Schoelen) and he is the founder of the Yoga Center of Fresno. (He became a Yogi in 1970 and a practitioner since 1948). He's also the Director of "Yoga of the Old Masters".

The thing is, it doesn't read like one of those mamsy pamsy flimsy, I'm gonna tell you what you want to hear, just to make money, kind of things that fills your head with "happy thoughts and bullcrap".. He is very straight forward and tells you if you are fat, then you are fat,, if you are too skinny, then you are too skinny.. If you look in the mirror naked and see bulges and rolls, it's your clue that you are too fat, and if you see bones, then you are too skinny. The right weight for you is to look in the mirror and see smooth lines and curves. Only use the scale or measuring tape to determine which direction you are going. (up or down)

However, the best section of the entire prelim is where he talks about Good Health is not a gift: it is a result... then he talks about man made stripped, colored, preserved, flavored or sugar coated,,, white flour and white sugar products,, being things you don't need in your body!!! He even targets the processed sugar free industry!! Simple rule of thumb, as he puts it,, if you can't pronounce the words on the label, then it doesn't need to go in your mouth!..

Yes, I think I'm going to like this alot.

I'm not sure why you get the impression that there is no meditation.. the meditation that is developed into and around this program is more extensive than anything that I"ve ever experienced.. the entire program is done with almost complete sensory deprivation (only using sound) and meditation as a beginning, between poses and after setting.

I did yoga for many years. The "Hatha" or physical yoga is only part of the experience. Yoga is excellent meditation and can help in our diet once one understands its use. Meditation is one of the elements in helping to build new habits and desires. The "Hatha" is only one of the means to the end. Simply doing the exercises without proper meditation would seem hollow to me.
