Default I have a couple of questions?????
I have started back on the Atkins Diet again and again. This time I have committed myself to excersing 5-7 days each week. Taebo M-F, Strength Training and Step on Sat, and Weights and Treadmill(walk or run for 30-40 mins).

I am currently at around 220 down about 11 lbs. One minute I am at 218 and then the next I am at 223. I am trying to stay committed and meet my goal of 200lbs by Arpil 2004.

How is this possible? I can tell that I am losing inches because my size 20 are falling off and I am in the 18W area. But it seems like the lbs won't come off fast enuf.

I try and stick close to the Atkins diet!!! Any ideas??? Because I am clueless and getting very frustrated!

Some of it more than likely water weight. The other bit may be from gaining muscle if this exercise pattern is an increase from what you were doing pre-Atkins. As long as you are losing inches, it's working. The pounds will follow again shortly. They seem to go in cycles of pounds then inches.

Keep up the good work. You are not alone.

My weight bounces between 5 pounds. Slowly the upper and lower limits move down, and that's how I know if I've lost weight.

I guess my question would have to be .... what does "I try and stick CLOSE to the Atkins Diet" mean? Close?

A couple of thoughts - don't weigh yourself too often, it will drive you crazy, and second, be sure you're drinking a LOT of water. If you are increasing your exercise levels but not increasing your water consumption, your body may be holding on to more water in self defense. Finally, the only real gauge is how your clothes fit. If they are loose, you're doing something right. More important, how do you feel? Healthier? Happier? A little proud?

Also, are you weighing yourself at the same time each day? For the most consistancy, you should weigh yourself first thing in the morning with little or no clothes. Weight fluctuates through-out the day.

Well, I have been nibbling every now and then on some carbs and candy. But I do still work out at least 30 mins a day and on weekends atleast 1.5hrs.

Yes my pants that I have on are a size 20. They are falling off my hips!!! I am wearing a size 18W hoping to keep going lower.

For the morning I drink a full 34oz cup of water. Around 2pm I drink another 34 oz of water. But when I go home I don't drink anymore water. I wish there was a magic wand to expell all of this water weight.

Yes, I am estatic about my losing inches and some weight. I wish it was more weight but I can definately tell in the inches department. I am able to see my feet!!!! Plus, I have nice legs so hopefully I can see the full knee caps as well.

Well, thanks for all of your encouragement!!!!

Welll.....

Ummm....

We seem to have an answer. It's that cheating your doing.

WHen you eat the carbs...your body is going to store all that sugar as glycogin in your muscles and liver. Glycogen gets stored along with a lot of water. So, when you cheat on carb loaded items, you gain a lot of water along with the stored energy. Then it takes (just like 1st time in induction) up to several days to get back in to ketosis and burn off that stored glycogen...and the associated water is flushed away. So each cheat can bounce you out of ketosis and pack on a bunch of water...which you then easily shed when you re-enter ketosis. (Assuming your not cheating every day...in which case you may simply NOT loose any weight.)

Really. Stop Cheating. WHy are you sabotaging your efforts?

If you are hungrey, eat somthing like cheese or meat or SF Jello or or or...

But don't do the carbs. Your only cheating yourself.

What Bliss said.

Atkins is kinda like being pregnant. You either are or you aren't. You're either doing it or you're not.

Now I'm not saying that if you cave in once every couple weeks you aren't doing Atkins. We all mess up. But if you are looking at cheats as "ok" because you exercise then you are doing something like Atkins, but not Atkins.

I'd recommend going back to Induction for two weeks to see what happens, then move into OWL for another two weeks.

If you're not getting hidden carbs, I'd guess you'd see the weight come off again.
