I think I will set my stop smoking date for my wedding anniversary. March 1st

That way I should have some of the excess weight off. Maybe before then depending on how I do with the running thing.

this sounds like a really great plan.

Yeah I hear you on being addicted. I can't stand to let a day go by without doing something. It is the very very first thing I do in the morning and it grounds everything else in my day.

hey girl,
you're doing awesome!

Are you taking rest days though? Like days with no exercise? Cause your body needs that. It actually improves your results too! Because your muscles are not fatigued.

Man, I feel lazy compared to you. I havent exercised. I will start on monday though. Back to work monday and i work out before i go, and then i walk home (about 30 mins)

ok...chat again soon.

keep it up!!

Once my toe heals well - about 2 more weeks

I am going to start running either in the morning or the evenings 3-4 days a week

Rest day is Sunday
It seems I have developed an addiction to exercise....it combats boredom and if I miss a day I get really really cranky.

It's back to the bike and wait until my toe heals completely. I have changed my gait considerably to avoid putting pressure on my toe. This in turn puts stress on a few muscles and I have a major pain.

sorry to hear of your broken toe, but otherwise you're doing a bang up job! COngrats!

I have a suggestion. Swimming! Aqua fitness classes are everywhere and they are great. I have asthma and running is very hard for me. I can do a slow jog on a treadmill in an airconditioned room. Outside, the pollution is too much, i cnat breath. Anyway, aqua fit classes are a great alternative. Great cardio, no impact on you joints. You could try it after your toe heals some, or once your all better.
Goodluck!

Hope your running is going well. Many people stop smoking, start running and diet all at the same time. I quit smoking about 3 years ago, starting running... didn't diet. I stopped running cause I got bored, gained some weight, but not too much.... but I never went back to smoking.

Now I've started dieting and I was walking/running for a few weeks and I even joined a gym for those super cold days but I guess I over did it and my leg just below my knee is sore.. but it's getting better and I think in a few days I'll be back out there.

Smoking really inhibits running and your enjoyment of it. I smoked for over 34 years. The hardest part was finally making that decision to quit. I wish you all the best in your March 1st effort. For me, it was a combination of things that helped me stop.

1) Making the decision to quit.

2) All my friends knew, 3 of them even quit at the same time, though only recently have they finally quit...

3) Visualization. I considered myself a non-smoker from then on.

I'm trying to use the same technique to diet though it's not quite as easy since I quit smoking cold turkey and with dieting it's all about control.

Keep us posted on your smoking, running, and dieting efforts. I wish you all the best of luck.

Good luck You're doing all cardio. Maybe you should incorporate some strength training in there a couple days a week, too, instead of doubling the cardio on your running days.

What week are you on in the c25k? How do you like it?

If your ketostix stay purple, perhaps a day or two will be enough for induction or maybe just some additional exercise. You may or may not be affected by this momentary lapse in judgement. I hope for the best for you.

I'm not sure why, but I don't seem to have sugar or carb cravings.. mine just seem to be hunger pains. Or at least what I think are hungry pains. So, I either go a head and eat something like a chicken breast or some pork rinds... or try to ignor it. The latter doesn't usually work.

I'd suggest eating some sort of meat or veggie the next time this comes on. Good luck!

I did tae-bo this morning. I still have to rest a bit during parts of the workout. I was able to run tomorrow. I am going to cut down my exercise to working out twice every other day. My cravings are out of this world when I exercise this much.

I am not really hungry just craving carbs for some reason. I find that cutting back on the exercise helps for now. It should be 1 more week and my toe should be better. Then I can continue the couch 2 5k plan. I tried it yesterday and couldn't make it all way through the first work out.

I've been thinking about getting back into swimming. It was my best "sport" as a kid, not my favorite.

There is a dive shop right behind my work place that has a pool that you can do laps in for a membership fee.

I was very upset today and walking around GNC... I bought 2 cheesecakes at GNC...low carb creations. I ate the first one (key lime pie) ohhh so good...so later tonight I ate the second one...then I ate a pack of nabs, the a brownie...I am sooooo bad.

Ive had around 100 carbs today.

My strips are still purpleish.

I was doing so well.

I just had a whoosh of 5 lbs this morning, and now I have to start induction all over again.

Ohhh poopy!!!!

It all stared with the cheesecake...I am making a vow to stay away from all low carb "treats". The sweet taste makes me want more.

Its a great stress reliver. But when I get my second wind to exercise I find that it is hard to go to sleep before 12 or 1am.

I remember reading somewhere the late night exercise can keep you awake.

I was able to meander through a nice 20 minute walk today. My toe is still a bit sore, and I walk a little funny. But a walk at the least.

I found that, once I started working out in the early am, I have no excuses aside from oversleeping. It feels so good to have it out of the way.

After work, there was always an obstacle, and I couldn't get a consistant routine for very long.

Unfortunately I have stopped running. On Christmas morning I wasn't paying attention and as I entered the living room my big duck feet kicked the exercise bike. Ouch! I spent a few hours in the hospital with a broken toe.

At the time my 2nd digi was diagonal instead of vertical.

Only one toe broken however.

I borrowed my moms exercize bike (the one I broke my toe on) because I can ride without pain, walking however is another story.

Perhaps the "Exercise Fairy" was just giving me a sign that I should be building endurance via the bike first.
