This is a good time of year to review and practice all the techniques for staying active.
Park in the back of the lot when you shop. And walk briskly to and from the stores. When you walk anywhere, do it briskly. I see people walking along in places at such a slow pace I cannot see how they are staying awake. Find a form of exercise that fits you; and stick with it. Find ways to keep it from becoming boring. Try to be active during the day. I do little resistence exercises when I'm sitting around working during the day. I make a point of getting up and climbing up the stairs once in a while too. I think that on top of a regular exercise regimen, those little things that keep us active can help our metabolisms remain at a higher level so that we need more fuel and burn off more fat.
