i agree w/ patty. when I first joined my gym i got a cold. I kept working out and as soon as my cold was gone i would get another cold. I had something like 8 colds within 3 months. finally i just rested and I got better.
My point? Protect yourself. if your going somewhere t work out, wash your hands before you start your workout and after you are finished and be sure not to touch your eyes. Do this for yourself and everyone there as well. hope you feel better. ![]() Tonya |

When you are sick but still feel up to giving a workout a try, it is best to workout for 10 minutes and see how you are feeling. If you are strong and feeling better, go for it. Otherwise, go home and rest. If you have a fever, save yourself the trip.
Personally, rarely have I found a workout when I was sick to make me feel better. |

Okay, I tried and tried to stay healthy, but it seems like everyone around me has been sick lately and I finally came down with a cold. Grr..... of course it had to hit me Saturday and ruin my weekend....
![]() Anyways, my question is - should I drag my butt to go workout today or skip it and go home and take a nap? I've heard people say if you're sick working out helps as long as you don't have a fever, but honestly, I feel like the effort of just getting to work today was a workout all in itself. I really feel weak but if working out will really make me feel better then I'd like to make the attempt. Anyone out there have any experience with this? |

general rule of thumb: if you're sick just from neck up-work out but if it's in your chest don't...also if you have a fever stay home and rest...there is no germier enviroment than a gym where people share equipment...use gloves or wipe off everything with disinfectant...or work out at home or just go for a light jog or power walk...'listen to your body' is another old adage...unfortunately for me-my head uses any excuse my body gives it!that's why i have been leading aerobic dancing classes for 22+ years...when you have 10-15 students waiting for you 3-4 times a week you are more likely to push yourself...but imagine this-we could cure the common cold if everyone stayed home for 2 weeks!
