Got some pliers???

Clove oil applied directly to the tooth supposedly helps, but my mom said it didn't help her.

It's 20% benzocaine so it should help numb the pain

I think it's the only thing out there with an actual numbing agent. And I looked online at the package and it doesn't say anything about not using it on a cracked tooth, ie open wound.

Clove oil works wonders, but don't get to much on your gums or tongue, it burns like mad.
Also take a couple OTC pain killers.
Ugh dental woes are never fun. Good luck with the dentist btw.

So.... How'd it go at the dentist, Fuzzykins?

.... and whatever you do.... don't eat any candies like Starburst Chews or tootsie rolls. My crown came clean off while I was chewing on a Starburst! I was lucky I didn't cause any damage. I didn't feel any pain.... just this noise and I froze. Pulled the candy out with the crown intact! I went to my dentist the next day and he reseated it. Cost me $60!!!!! He explained that they actually use something like the texture and stickiness of a Starburst to remove them when necessary!

I've not eaten one since.

HA HA HA, sorry Red but that had me in tears..

When i had mine done the dentist told me over and over again, nothing chewy.. So no Gum, Candy or even Steak.. He said to wait at least two to three days before starting on mildly hard stuff and make my way up..

Scotch...rub some around the area...drink the rest.

Seriously...I heard you can get a temporary dental cement that should help until you get to your dentist! Good luck.
