Googled that. Their strapline is enough to make you worried "Probably the toughest event on the planet" and then on their page "Forget finish times. Simply completing a Tough Mudder is a badge of honor."
One of the girls that ran the Warrior Dash w/ us yesterday is getting recruited by her friends to do Tough Mudder. She can probably do it, though...she's ex-Army, a police detective, a SWAT team member and has boxed professionally. I just checked the site so I could give her some info on it and saw that it said that the Tough Mudder has a completion rate of 78%. HOLY CRAP!!!

Wow...what a BLAST that was!!! Tougher than I expected it to be, but mostly b/c the majority of the running was going UP the mountain through very muddy terrain. The obstacles were challenging, but doable (except the 12 foot wall which I could not climb over, unfortunately, but am RESOLVED to do w/o fail next year). Definitely got muddy and dirty but OMG, it was SO much fun. My legs and knee caps are scratched up and bruised...it's like a badge of honor, LOL

So without further ado...here's my pictures.

This is our group before we got ready to head out. That's me in the back in the pink shirt, my cousin Connie in the cowboy hat, my bestfriend Elizabeth in the other pink shirt, her wife Brandi in the blue tie-dye shirt, and my friend Que in the black tanktop and shorts.

The shuttle ride to the dash. Our driver has lived in the mountains for 27 years and is VERY comfortable driving the roads. 35 - 40 mph going down the mountain.

Our group at the entrance to the Warrior Dash. The extra female standing next to Que is her wife, Spoon. She was our cheerleader and personal photographer, LOL

The flames were our starting pistol, LOL

Navigating through muddy tires.

That's me coming over the floating log and that's my cousin, Connie, behind me.

Jumping the flames just before the finish line.

Our team after finishing the dash.

And donating our muddy sneakers to a good cause.

Just before jumping in the shower.

My battle scars!!!

I have 180 photos so I just picked some of them to share w/ you.

Someone at another forum I post at asked me what the deal w/ the 12 foot wall is, so I thought I'd come back and post a picture of it so you can see. There are ropes to use for leverage and there are small ledges for your feet. I have shitty upper body strength and AWESOME lower body strength, so it sucked for me. But here's my friend, Carl, conquering it.

I'm thinking we'll be extremely exhausted after finishing, but not too exhausted to have our post-race beer. LOL There's several other similar type events, but the one I saw that seems to be the toughest is called "Tough Mudder."

Wow!!! I like these kinds of stuffs especially the different obstacles

The tough mudder- sounds like the Mountain mud races my friends join every year. It's like a mini version though of triathlon with mountain biking on mud /running with obtacles....but no swimming.

I was reading at the site and can't seem to find the info. How long did you have to train for?

The one scheduled near my place is in less than a month- I dont think that would be suffice training period eh?

I started doing 5Ks in January, but have only walked them so far. I started the Couch 2 5K program 3 weeks ago, though, so I could start running them and hopefully work up to at least a half-marathon by the end of the year (my goal is a 5K every month this year and a half-marathon in December). By the time I finish C25K it will be 9 weeks of training. That'll leave me another 3 weeks that I can use for whatever, so I'll use that time to put as many miles on my nikes as possible.

Good overall plan!

When I did my training for the half marathon and with ultimate goal of a marathon, possibly a 50 miles ( if get crazier ) I started with 5K per week as much as I can or every 2 weeks. Then worked myself towards 10K, then 5 miles, 10-12 mile races. I was only able to reach the 5 miles though then i stopped

Nonetheless, giving yourself a year training for a half is a good pacing time.

When will you be doing the Warrior Dash? The 3.08 mi is almost same as 5K with additional obstacles so that gives your cross training to build your stamina working towards your half marathon

The Warrior Dash is May 14th. That gives me 9 more weeks still.

A friend of mine just did a half-marathon and reading this kind of makes me want to start running. Until I remember how bad my willpower is.
