Default question about loading phase
its my second day on the loading phase. I am having trouble eating, appetite is gone. Is it okay to have a couple of spoon fulls of coconut oil for dinner. I wasn't sure if we were supposed to be careful with oil on the loading phase.

I am guessing that this is your first round, right? I know that you may not be hungry, especially if you are not used to eating very much food but TRUST me when I say that loading properly on the first two days will be so worth it when you start the VLCD days. Not loading properly on fatty foods may cause this round to not kinda diffucult.

I know it's hard to believe that you really need to eat that much food but YOU DO, but don't make yourself sick. You really need to build up your fat reserves before you start the VLCD days. Coconut oil is actually good for you and I know some people won't use it during the VLCD days but I do and I haven't had any problems with it. You need to be careful of sweets during the loading phase - I wasn't and for the first week of VLCD, I had intensely painful migraines because I ate more sweet foods than fatty - burritos, burgers, milkshake, fries, cheese, pizza. It went against everything I knew up until that point but I trusted what I read in Pounds and Inches and everything I had read turned out to be true.

Good luck.

thanks so much for your response. I will pick up some fry chicken this evening. I think I have done pretty good so far--just kinda sleepy from the starches.

I agree with curvy girl (cute screen name btw). . Skip the starches, go for lots of healthy fats. Fried chicken is fine. Coconut oil is great! One of my fav loading foods is nachos piled with meat, cheese, guacamole, etc....and I mean piled so you get few chips, but lots of the tasty fat Mexican food. Too much starch during loading causes alot of water retention, which you will lose quickly, but the withdrawal symptoms the first week...like headache and carb cravings...will drive you nuts.

I agree with everything except the part about using coconut oil in P2. According to the protocol, no oils of any kind are allowed in P2. Dr. Simeons was so specific about this, he said to not even use it on your skin. Even meats like chicken are to be cooked without the skin in P2.
