Default Length of rounds...does it matter?
Besides the obvious of losing more weight with a longer round, is there any reason not to do short rounds instead?
I have about 130 pounds to lose so I have a long journey ahead. Here's the sad part. I started the journey 2 years ago and lost 60 pounds on 2 rounds of HCG. When I do hcg, I NEVER cheat. Although I love HCG and what it does for me, by the end of the 6 weeks of my second round, I couldn't even look at the approved foods and felt very burnt out. I'm very strict with it. Well, I ended up gaining it all back quickly. Here I am starting over again but I don't want to make the same mistake as last time and get burnt out. I'm thinking of doing short 3 weeks of phase 2 rounds back to back. Is there any reason not to do this?

I have read on these boards that people who do longer rounds, but not longer than protocol allows, stabilize better. I have done shorter rounds, but not shorter than protocol allows, and stabilized just fine. The minimum length of a round is 23 injections/26 days. I wouldn't do anything shorter than that. And I would recommend following the guidelines for P3 and P4 in between rounds of P2 for best success and best health.

Hi, to me it sounds like your issues are with p3 and beyond, not with p2. If you can't follow the stabilization rules in p3, it really doesn't matter how well you did in p2....your hard work will have been for naught. P3 is something that must be planned for, just as carefully as p2. Personally, I think the longer rounds get the junk out of your system better, and you embrace the freedoms of p3 without as many cravings.

You're right, P2 is not a problem for me besides burn out. I only like 2 veggies and a few proteins and I do get tired of them quickly. I think I do fine on P3 as well. It's beyond P3 where I have the problem...I have PCOS and know that the smartest option for me is to remain as much sugar/carb/starch free as possible even after the protocol. I have promised myself that I've learned from that mistake and will do it right this time.
I also don't want to push it to the point of burn out in P2 since I have such a long journey. I know I will only stick with it if it's do-able for me. I thought maybe I would do 3 short rounds the remainder of the year and next year do longer rounds, or at least make sure my last round to goal is a long one.

For me, it was easier to do my long round first, then do shorter rounds to follow. I really think you cement your losses better on the longer rounds. The closer you get to goal, the less you lose per day, and per round, and it's easy to get discouraged....that's why I think a long round to start with gets you more bang for the buck.

With pcos, you really need to get your carbs and sugars in check....pretty much paleo/primal for life. Not just for your weight, but for all the hormonal issues involved. It's a mindset kind of thing...but for me, the long round helped me get all the carbs and sugar out of my system and off my mind. I eat a very bland, repetitive diet while on p2, but learned that I was eating for nourishment, not for pure pleasure....then I learned to find pleasure in other areas outside food. The long round changed my life.

To avoid getting board with the foods, search on YouTube for recipes from other hcg users. I only eat chicken, talapia and shrimp most of the time [sometimes lean beef] and I am always trying to find different ways to cook my protein by using a variety of different spices. I also do the same for the veggies: Romain Lettuce, Tomatoes, cabbage, cucumber and spinach. I will pair up different proteins with a different veggie - shrimp and cabbage, chicken and spinach, lean ground beef chili with tomatoes. beef and cabbage soup, chicken and cabbage soup, etc. Use this round to experiment with cooking your food differently. It's only 23 days... right?

The problem with short rounds also is that it will take so long to get to goal. You wait longer and longer between each round so it's best to maximize your losses before ending. Plus I just tend to see better stability with 30 days or longer.

The responses above say that yes, it does matter. Longer rounds, at least 30 days, if not 40 days seem to make the losses and the new habits re eating, stick better long term. Hope this helps! .
