Default Taking HCG Injection and Positive on a Pregnany Test?! HELP!!
I apologize for this topic having too much information but I'm really nervous about this.

The last time I had sex was on June 15. I then started taking the pill on the day of my period which was June 17. My period ended on June 22.

I started injecting myself for HCG on this diet on July 10. I was due to get my period on July 15 and haven't gotten it yet aside from 2 days of light spotting. I did not have sex at all since starting the injections.

I started taking the pill the day of my period so that my next expected period would be at my regular time.

I took a pregnant test and it came out positive....

From reading websites, I discovered that lots of women have had this. I found to wait 2 weeks before I take a pregnancy test again. I know it is either that or get an ultrasound done.

Assuming I get my period, how does one know if they are actually pregnant or not?! Do the injections make taking the pill less affective?

If you got your period after having sex, that should mean that you aren't pregnant... unless it wasn't actual period, but some sort of spotting. Were you regular before, and June 17 was a pretty normal date? Then having sex on the 15th hasn't done anything, since it was nowhere close to ovulation.

If you want to be certain, take a planned interruption - as if you end the round, doing 3 days of VLCD without HCG, so the hcg has time to leave your body... then test again.

But it is pretty common to have a messed-up cycle on HCG - I have been all over the place in terms of spotting and timing. And I know I am *not* pregnant.

Agreed, if you got a real period after having sex, it sounds extremely unlikely you could be pregnant. Why the test said you were surprises me, because I've heard we take such a small amount of HCG, it doesn't/wouldn't show up on a test. Maybe a false positive? But I have to agree with sweetiepie, my cycle gets screwy whenever I go on HCG and there is noooo possible way I could be pregnant (sadly). For example, the past couple of days I've had cramps as if I'm going to get my period and it isn't due for two weeks. Some women get sore breasts. According to my clinic workbook, this is totally normal - but still so annoying!

I was very regular. Maybe off by 2 days but that's about it so June 17 was a normal date.

You think 3 days is okay to take a pregnancy test again? I had heard things like 2 weeks, but I read a range of things from 3 days to 3 weeks AHH!!

I have done the drops in the past and never had this happen to me with it affecting my periods. Probably wasn't authentic HCG though.

The injections seemed to mess me up.

Hah well I rarely have sex either. I was just dating someone at the time and of course it didn't work out.

I'm trying to figure out though (assuming I'm not pregnant) how one would know while on the HCG diet if they are actually pregnant even if they are taking the pill. If the HCG helps with fertility, does that mean taking the pill is less effective?

Hi, I have quite a bit of experience with this as I was a main moderator for one of the largest TTC (Trying to Conceive) and Infertility sites on the net.

If what you got was normal period then there is no way that you got pregnant from sex 2 days before it. You normally ovulate 2 weeks before you get your period. You can get pregnant after you ovulate for about a 24 hour window, statistically less but let's say 24 hours to be safe. Now sperm can live in the reproductive system for up to 72 hours, that's stretching it. So sex 17-14 days before your period can get you pregnant.

Now without getting too techinical some women have a shortened luteal phase (the time beween ovulation and your period) than 2 weeks but they def. don't have only 1 day! So, you're good!

HCG will cause a positive pg test, even in these small increments. Everyone's body metobolizes it differently and if you were to test every day your test lines could get darker as you are taking more before your body has metabolized it out. Your lines should be very faint. If you get a super dark line then you may want to get a blood test. Please feel free to PM me with any questions.

When I took a 5000iu hcg shot for infertility purposes it took 10 days for it to leave my system.

Hi. Thanks for the response. I know the odds are in my favor that I am not pregnant, but I'm just so nervous! I've heard based on the amount of HCG people take on this diet that it takes roughly 72 hours for it to leave our system as opposed to taking a 5000iu shot all at once. I'm going to take another pregnancy test tomorrow night.

The pregnancy test I took didn't have the little lines. It just says either pregnant or not pregnant.

In any case, I am not continuing the HCG diet. I was stupid and didn't really research that taking the injections could mess up your period (mine at least) during the dieting. I'm doing a different vlcd now but it has more calories than HCG. Can lose a lot of weight on it too, but of course not as fast as HCG. I dunno. Would rather do it like this than to have my period become really irregular and to not know whether I am pregnant or not (not at the moment sexually active though).

I have all this HCG and supplies leftover and cannot seem to find anyone on Craigslist who is willing to buy it!

I don't get it, though.... what is so awful about being irregular for a month or so? I mean, no matter what condoms should be a given... and then it really doesn't matter.

If you are planning on doing this diet more than a month, I don't want to have month to month irregular periods. I didn't realize taking the hormone has that affect. I am on the pill and don't like using condoms when I am in an exclusive relationship with a guy.

You can only do the diet 6 weeks so that is what sweetiepie meant. It's a very short time to have your period messed up. Real hcg causes you to have false positive tests. It's goes back to normal when you go off. But if you want to do another diet, that's fine too. Most of us simply can't lose any other way.

I figured that. My plan was to do 2 rounds maybe even 3 of this, but if it affects my period I would rather diet another way.

And that might work for you. It doesn't for most of us though. Nothing works for me but hcg. Good luck!

Just to add another thought here....most women have messed up periods for the first 3 months or so after starting birth control pills.
