As for what Dr S says about massage, if you read P&I, especially within the context of the time/era that he wrote it, contextually it seems clear to me that what he's referring to is not therapeutic body massage, but rather those old ridiculous vibrating / belt shaking machines and what I'd call unscrupulous masseuses who claim that massage somehow 'mobilizes' / releases fat.

In my opinion, massage, thumping, rolling, kneading, and shivering undertaken for the purpose of reducing abnormal fat can do nothing but harm. We once had the honor of treating the proprietress of a high class institution that specialized in such antics. She had the audacity to confess that she was taking our treatment to convince her clients of the efficacy of her methods, which she had found useless in her own case.
How anyone in his right mind is able to believe that fatty tissue can be shifted mechanically or be made to vanish by squeezing is beyond my comprehension.

So you see he's not talking about therapeutic full body massage imho, he's targeting anyone trying to claim that massage can help you loose fat/weight.

No reputable massage therapist would try to claim such a thing in today's era, because sports / therapeutic massage has been embraced as a norm in our culture and it's health benefits and limitations as well are known.

But, again I'm not exactly advocating people on P2 get massages, I'm just saying it's not worth getting all worked up over or worrying about 'ruining' your round if you do.
