Default Stopping Early
Okay. I started as a fairly skinny person with only about 10 pounds to lose. I was mostly doing this along with my husband for support (I know which is bad) But now I am down more than 10 pounds and my husband thinks im to skinny and should stop. I know in the diet that it won't let you lose more weight than you have to lose, but I am starting to feel alot more hunger and fatigue. Has anyone heard of stopping early? Meaning stopping the drops and eating the vlcd for 3 more days and then starting phase 3?? I have not been able to find any answers so far. Hoping someone can shed some light on this for me.
Thanks!

if you're at your goal weight, increase your calories to 800-1000, but still take the hcg until you get to day 23.

As long as you've done your 23 days, you can stop whenever. If you haven't done the 23 days, you just up your P2 diet up to 800-1000 calories so you stop losing.

How would I add those calories? In meat, fruits, veggies? Extra meal? Have you heard of anyone phasing to 3 early with success? or failure?

You need to do the 23 days..if you go to phase 3 early, you will probably regain the weight. Have you read pounds and inches? There is a section in there that explains what to do if you have lost all the weight you need to.

Maybe I don't sugar coat it, lol. What if I want to stop? And go to phase 3.... Because I have some things coming up and know I can't maintain this for that time period. So I want to stop the drops and go to phase 3. Has anyone experienced it? Or have any thoughts on it? What is special about 23 days?

This is from pounds and inches:

Patients who need to lose 15 pounds (7 kg.) or less require 26 days treatment with 23 daily injections. The extra three days are needed because all patients must continue the 500-Calorie diet for three days after the last injection. This is a very essential part of the treatment, because if they start eating normally as long as there is even a trace of HCG in their body they put on weight alarmingly at the end of the treatment. After three days when all the HCG has been eliminated this does not happen, because the blood is then no longer saturated with food and can thus accommodate an extra influx from the intestines without increasing its volume by retaining water.

We never give a treatment lasting less than 26 days, even in patients needing to lose only 5 pounds. It seems that even in the mildest cases of obesity the diencephalon requires about three weeks rest from the maximal exertion to which it has been previously subjected in order to regain fully its normal fat-banking capacity. Clinically this expresses itself, in the fact that, when in these mild cases, treatment is stopped as soon as the weight is normal, which may be achieved in a week, it is much more easily regained than after a full course of 23 injections.

As soon as such patients have lost all their abnormal superfluous fat, they at once begin to feel ravenously hungry in spite of continued injections. This is because HCG only puts abnormal fat into circulation and cannot, in the doses used, liberate normal fat deposits; indeed, it seems to prevent their consumption. As soon as their statistically normal weight is reached, these patients are put on 800-1000 Calories for the rest of the treatment.

The diet is arranged in such a way that the weight remains perfectly stationary and is thus continued for three days after the 23rd injection. Only then are the patients free to eat anything they please except sugar and starches for the next three weeks.

Ultimately it is up to you what you want to do

If you stop before the 23 injections and 3 vlcd days without hcg you will have problems. It takes the 23 days to reset your hypothalamus, so if you quit early you may not be able to stabilize, meaning you may go the way other diets go, lose 10 gain 20.

just increase your protein, and veggies. I probably wouldn't add any fruit only because those tend to have natural sugars...don't want to overdo it on the sugar.

I am at my goal weight and I ended the drops on VLCD14 and yesterday was day 3 of the vlc days. I lost 3 more lbs but today I increased my protein, I figured I would just do no carbs or sugars, just protein. Today was my first day off the vlc diet, not sure if I gained, I suppose tomorrow we will see. If I already stopped the drops, can I start them up again and pick up where I left off or do I have to start 23 days all over again. I don't want to gain back the 32 lbs I lost. Grr...I shouldn't have stopped.

I know, me either up until this week! After reading everything, I am SO wishing I hadn't stopped. I just read a little bit of P&I and basically it said if you are going to take a break prior to effective 20 days of HCG, and as long as it's not longer than 2 weeks, increase calories with a high protein diet including eggs, meat, cheese & dairy and low to no carbs, then start the drops/injections again without 3 days of loading when ready. I am leaving for a long weekend vacation from Thursday-Sunday this upcoming week. So I am just going to try and be careful but not stress out too much this week. I have had success on Atkin's so I will follow that protocol strictly this week and hopefully not gain back everything I lost these past 2 weeks. Ugh! Oh well, live and learn, right? This diet is so great because you can ALWAYS start it again and be successful as long as you don't cheat! I will keep you posted.

I know that alot of people on this website are very strict about the protocol. BUT my 1st round I only did 20 days...and during that 20 day, I only did 18 injections. I followed the rest of the protocol P3 and all after that. I stabilized and have maintained that weight for months. By the way, what day are u on?

Please any advice on how to add the calories to reach 800-1000 calories when you have reached your goal weight early. I'm crazy hungry and worried about gaining all of my weight back and MORE! My husband has lost 60lbs and Iv'e lost 36lbs and don't want to gain it back.

Dee...
increase your portion sizes...instead of 3.5oz meat, go for 4 or 5. Instead of chicken, eat some beef, it's higher in calories.

Add some veggies to your normal serving. I just wouldn't add any additional fruit than your 2 because of the sugars...not worth the risk.

What is going on is that all your abnormal fat is now burnt up and have no more abnormal fat to lose. You still have to maintain the HCG diet until day 23 and then go off HCG after that for 3 days. Now the reason why is that the weight loss is not the only part, but the stabilization of establishing your net weight set point is equally if not more important so that you do not rebound. What you can do however is to eat more of the same foods you do on the HCG by doubling your intake from 500 to 1000. So eat double the veggies and double the protein, but you MUST stick to the protocol.
