Hello...
I must admit I am a bit down about this today. I have not gone off protocol at all. MAYBE I drank a little less water yesterday...not that I did not have enough..........just a little less than the other days. Could that do it? I expected a lower loss in week two, but not on day 6 when I have almost 100lbs to lose. I actually had about 400 calories (maybe 420 yesterday) and even had ONLY one fruit when I had been having two each day. You know, I skipped one fruit b/c I tried one TBS of milk in my hot tea, but really, could *that* cause a low loss? I also feel hungry this morning and that has not happened at all so far this week. In fact, all week I was eating my first meal between 11:30 am and 1:00 pm and feeling great...not a loud grumbling stomach or anything, but this morning it is about 9:15 and my stomach is rumbling. (I am still going to wait until noon or so because I like that schedule! lol) I will just drink tea and a lot of water till then to try and calm it down LOL I am taking Rx Hucog SQ 150 iu first thing in the morning. I KNOW I need to just take a deep breath, relax and realize that *I might* drop (hopefull!) 2 lbs on the scale tomorrow morning...a girl can hope ![]() Just need some encouragement because out of the 5 days so far I only reached the 500 calories on two days, the other 3 have been closer to 400 so I am not overeating or cheating. Dr. Simeons says it is OK to not eat all of your food so I am not worried about it. However......since I am hungry this morning, do you think I should up my cals to 500 today and see what happens, or stick to my usual schedule and just wait for the losses to begin again? LOL It is just hard to see 1 lb losses for a few days in a row and then barely anything :/ Thanks for any encouragement to keep my spirits up today! Sherri |

From what I've read (and been told myself when I asked), you need to get as close to 500 as possible!
Not drinking enough water could also affect it. Also, try forgoing the milk and see if that affects it. I've noticed every minor change we make can affect whether we lose or stall or gain! Good luck ![]() |

Hi,
Yes I will not do the TBS of milk again...I thought eliminating a fruit that I usually have would take care of that. Who knows. BUT... I did just realize....I made my husband his pizza last night and put his pepperoni on by hand as usual, but did not have any gloves to do it with. (It was a spur of the moment dinner for him). We are supposed to be oil free so I thought the fat in pepperoni would not affect me, but maybe somehow it did? After all, we have to handle fat all the time when we trim our meat of all visible fat. Just curious, anyone have an opinion about handling a lot of slices of pepperoni causing a lack of loss? I really, really, wanted to lose at LEAST 10 pounds the first week b/c I have so much to lose...so as it stands, I would have to lose one pound today and one pound tomorrow to barely get there ![]() Well, it is what it is and I am in it for the long haul, I just usually lose faster during the first few weeks. ![]() Thanks! Sherri From what I've read (and been told myself when I asked), you need to get as close to 500 as possible! |

Sherri, I agree with LoveMySelf, many of the vets here have advised that we try to get as close to 500 calories a day as possible, too little food can be just as damaging as overeating to our progress. Out of the calories that you do eat, always make sure you are eating allllllll of the protein, as we are on the verge of protein deficiency as it is on this diet. Have you been eating all of your protein? Remember that your body is under a lot of stress right now, so vitamin supplementation is a good idea. Cutting out the fruit is ok as far as I know, just don't cut back on your protein or you may run into issues with hunger or stalls.

Thank you
![]() I guess I thought that since Dr.S said it is ok to *not* eat the 500cal if you do not feel like it, that I would be OK. Maybe not. I ate just enough to feel good and satisfied LOL But I can easily squeeze in 80-100 cals of veggies then. I still wonder about the pepperoni. I am going to use gloves from now on just in case! LOL Thanks again ![]() Sherri Sherri, I agree with LoveMySelf, many of the vets here have advised that we try to get as close to 500 calories a day as possible, too little food can be just as damaging as overeating to our progress. Try to get in 3-4 liters of water a day. I don't lose much when I don't. And if you are doing a 40 day round the average loss is 20. Some days you lose big and some days not at all. Keep your calories up if your body loses better with more - I know mine does, and I had over 100 to lose. I lose better higher fat too but that is rogue.

I think your body is just catching up. You've lost 8.4 lbs in less than a week. That won't continue, and it doesn't happen that fast for everyone. Relax and don't worry about it. There will be days where you don't lose and days where you gain. That is normal. At the end, you'll average out to about 1/2 lb a day lost.

Ouch...somehow I just happened to read a bunch of posts etc. that held the average to closer to 30-32lbs for those who need to lose 100 lbs
![]() I drink a lot of water...actually always have especially since I don't drink soda or juice or coffee LOL I drink hot/cold tea and water....but I have had a few of the seltzer water (no sodium in it compared to club soda etc.) and the Stevia liquid drops. I have had I think 3 of them in 6-7 days though. I drink my water from a small mouth quart mason jar LOL At least 4 of them per day. I could/would easily drink more...........but..........as it is I am up 4 times at night as it is and that means I never sleep more than an hour at a time. Been that way my whole life though ![]() I am going to try upping my cals a bit today and see what happens. I thought I would lose more than usual b/c I dropped one fruit, where until now I have been having fruit twice per day. May just go back to my usual. Thank you! And I agree about fat, but I won't have it again until p3 and then easy does it for me ![]() Sherri Try to get in 3-4 liters of water a day. I don't lose much when I don't. Thank you
![]() I guess I was just hoping to be closer to a lb a day average for a couple of months worth because I have almost 100 to lose. But, if my metab. resets I believe this will be better than eating a 1200 cal diet and a ton of exercise, this time lol. Thank you and I need to convince myself that a loss is a loss regardless of the amount...I just can't seem to do that easily LOL Sherri I think your body is just catching up. Sherrisews: You said you handled pepperoni - Dr. S says that ANY contact with fat, fatty acids, butters and oils can cause slow lose, stalsl and more often than not, gains. The oils are absorbed through the skin. So avoid touching or handling ANY food product that is off-protocol, sausages and pepperni contain very much fat :-) This also goes for creams, lotions, hair care, makeup. I use a hair conditioner on my ends that contains oils and various kinds of butters, but I make sure to wear gloves and make sure that when I rinse it out that the rinse never get in contact with my skin, scalp etc. Never had a problem. Gloves are your best friend on HCG, if you want just a bit of luxury in your daily life, or just keep it sane and tolerable ;-)
Also, stalls are normal, I've been there myself. But if you've read my "my skin is crawling all over me" in the general forum, you will see that a stall can be a blessing in disguise, perhaps you can find a bit of encouragement and comfort in my post. There is also a fantastic sticky-tread in the "P2" forum that is called "Stalls", I read that and got so over my worries, self-pity and feeling of not loosing 'enough' and the idea that stalls are pure evil. You are doing great and have lost more per day than I could ever hope for, so keep on going! Good luck! ![]() |

Sherrisews: oh and I agree with coming as close to the 500 kcal window as possible, people are different, some stall on oranges even though they are very much allowed on the diet. Remember that if you eliminate anything, weather it is one or both fruits, or the grissini, to make up for it calorie-wise in protein and/or vegetables.
I've never eaten the grissini (20 kcal) and one day added the 20 kcal in veggies - really helped with my hunger. I also adjustet my dose from 4x3 pellets to 5x3 pellets and that took the last bit of hunger I expirenced . If you feel hunger, except slightly around your two meal times, Dr. S says you are not burning abdominal fat, but normal structural fat and in worst cases, muscle mass. |

Even when you have a lot to lose, not everyone loses 30-34 pounds in the first round. it depends on your age, your muscle mass and metabolism. Some only lose 20 pounds a round. You have to keep the goal in sight and keep plugging along. You've done very well though. you have great advice and the only reason I'm jumping in is that you said you are hungry. That's not okay so that needs to be fixed. If you haven't done a skip day yet, do one tomorrow and let us know how you feel by late afternoon. Your dose may need lowered a bit.

LOL
Yes, the minute I opened the pepperoni package I KNEW that I wish I had not run out of the disposable gloves I love to use...but there was no time to run and get them at that point :/ I plan to pick some more up this week for certain! I wanted to use my conditioner (it has almond oil and other oil stuff) on the ends as well....but my body is just too big to rinse it w/o getting it all over me *sigh*. Can't bend in our shower either enough to do it that way either. Boy, just a few other things that will be wonderful to do when I get back into shape! LOL Thank you, Sherri Sherrisews: You said you handled pepperoni - Dr. S says that ANY contact with fat, fatty acids, butters and oils can cause slow lose, stalsl and more often than not, gains. Hi,
Thanks Colleen ![]() I know everything you say is correct ![]() I think I need to try and get closer to the 500 cals and that should do it. Another question though LOL Today is very rare but this is what happened: I had to run errands today and they ended up taking until 3 pm. So... is it a BAD idea to eat, say, a 400 calorie meal (early supper?) and then a 100 calorie veggie or fruit a couple of hours later if a day like this happens? I did not know I would have to leave before I ate and it was not the type of day where I could take something along to eat in a parking lot or such LOL I can tell my stomach could be hungry, but it is not really bothering me even though it is 3pm already ![]() Thanks again so much! Sherri Even when you have a lot to lose, not everyone loses 30-34 pounds in the first round. it depends on your age, your muscle mass and metabolism. Some only lose 20 pounds a round. Hi,
Thank you ![]() This was definitely not my choice and they know it can not happen again! ![]() And...oops, I just made a 3.5oz 97% lean hamburger with onions and no salt no sugar added tomatoe sauce which I read is ok on p2?? I can just use tomatoes next time if necessary? Oddly, I was never uncomfortable today at all...by now, normally my stomach would feel like it was on fire LOL. It is now 6:30 so I am not sure if I should fix another protein? I have thin sirloin tip thawed but, truthfully, my mock chili is filling. So sorry for all the questions, I realized today that this is day 7 and as of this morning I was down 10 lbs and don't want to mess up ![]() Thank you again. I will be on track tomorrow from now on. Sherri Well, you don't have much choice at this point. You could do a mini steak day which is not on protocol but it's not like you can change anything at this point and it's better than eating really late. I'd eat both proteins for dinner plus one apple and your veggie. Then be done for the day. |
