Default Expectations for Newbie! 5'2" - 157 Pounds
I have a consult today at 3:30pm. I'm crazy nervous. I'm skeptical and afraid I won't be able to do this. If I do the 40 day program. How much weight can I expect to lose if I start at 157 at 5'2". I've done Weight Watchers in the past and I've lost my MoJO. Can I maintain during a vacation after the 40 days by following Weight Watchers? Thank you in advance!

Some people have maintain with Weight Watchers but, I think the vast majority of successful people who have maintained well (including Grammy) have followed a Primal/Paleo lifestyle. Check out Mark's Daily Apple for some good info on how to get started, HCG will change how you look at food for the better, you will value every single thing you put in your mouth, not really in terms of calories or points or whatever but, in terms of quality of food and what that food actually does to help your body function. Food is fuel, it's not just to keep you satisfied. Just my 2 cents.

If I could offer some advice for your first round... keep expectations in line with reality, most women lost .5 lbs per day, if you hope for any more than that , you may get discouraged and fail.

You WILL be able to do this, it's not hard, you just have to have you mind in the game. It's 95% mental.

Good luck, keep us posted

I think you can expect to lose an average of 1/2 lb per day on this protocol. You may lose a lot the first few days, but then losses will slow so you average out to 1/2 lb. If you are doing this with a doctor, I highly encourage you to read a copy of the original Pounds & Inches and follow the guidelines in that book if they differ from what your doctor is recommending.

I'm sure some have had success following WW after this protocol, but I do not think it would be the best choice. Personally, I've found it important to eat much more food and more fat than WW would recommend. Eating less does not help with weight maintenance following this diet. After losing weight on this plan, you will, of course follow phase 3 to stabilize your weight, and then will add back in starches if you choose.

Best wishes to you.
