Ok so I did round 1 and went from 190 to 168. Had horrible constipation but the loses were worth the struggle to me. At day 13 round 1 I got to 168 and didn't budge from 168 until day 20 when I threw in the towel, did three days of VLCD then P3 and P4. I stabilized fine and stayed between 168 and 170 all 6 weeks. Round 2 I do the two load days (gaining a total of 10 lbs in those two days) did the diet for another 20 days and all I managed to lose was the 10 lbs I gained during the load days. Doing another round seems useless as I can't get below 168 (was hoping for 155 as it is within my healthy range of 120-164). But now I can't get off this diet! If I eat ANYTHING but P3 I have gains. I started calorie counting and exercising daily this past Monday. Day 1 I lost 4 lbs, day 2 I gained 2 back, today (day 3) I am back up another 2 lbs. I can't eat bread of any kind. I can't have pasta of any kind. I can't have potatoes. I can't have ANY sugar AT ALL! I ate a reeses peanut butter cup last week, a single reeses peanut butter cup and I gained 7 lbs! This diet is ridiculous!! Someone help me! How do I get off this diet???

I would HIGHLY suggest the Leptin Reset. I had issues with carbs and starches after R2, then did a R3 trying to recoup my losses. Instead of following the P3 protocol, I went directly into the Leptin Reset. I have NEVER been more stable in my life! After reaching Leptin Sensitivity, I CAN have carbs, sugars, starches with NO ill effect. For you to have such a severe reaction, your body is desperately trying to tell you something! R3 LIW was 127# in October 2011 - today I'm at 124.8#, no kidding. Its FABULOUS.

You are putting on water weight. Its physiologically impossible to add 2 lbs of fat in a day. That would be a 7200 calorie surplus. You can minimize your water gain by keeping carbs low, workout and drinking lots of water.
If you are concerned about water weight, then slowly add back in calories but leave carbs low. Workout like crazy and your weight loss of fat might offset some of the water weight gain. |

There is a leptin reset thread on here....go to the bottom of the list of threads and you will see it. Basically, it's not the hcg that is making you gain, it's the years of damage done to your metabolism that made you gain in the first place. I also highly recommend the leptin reset. You also need to understand that you can't eat as you did before, and expect a different result....ie to not gain weight. All of this involves decisions for life style Change that need to be continued if you want to maintain the results.

So on R1 you lost 22 lbs in 20 days and threw in the towel? And you did a second round, lost 10 lbs in 20 days, that didn't seem like enough so you stopped again without completing the round? I am not sure your expectations were realistic. I think some people find it pretty hard to stabilize if you are on hcg for less than 23 (some say 30) days. Maybe the leptin rest will work for you.

Hi Mikef,
I followed the advice I got in the responses to try the leptin reset and I have to say it is working well. I am back to pretty normal eating (different types of food I mean) and I am not gaining. Not losing but not gaining either. At this point that is the goal. Just don't gain it back! So when you get to p3/p4 I would recommend the leptin too. It really is working well. |
