Ok, my husband's family is from Belarus. When we walked around the city of Grodno, every single female, unless perhaps an older Babushka, was the exact same size. Most ppl there are Russian/Belorusian/Latvian etc... crosses.
Even in the older ppl with a few extra pounds you never saw thighs on a person, or any "abnormal fat" their bodies looked the same but with a few extra pounds. Not to get sidetracked, but just walking down the street you could have instantly picked 10 women in a row and put them on America's next Top Model and they would have blown away any of the other contestants. lol Needless to say I was kind of horrified walking around there with extra weight, apparantly that means you are from "America" if you are heavy usually. Well...I ate fried fried fried and more fried food while there, blinchiki's, gubreckis the list goes on, even toast is fried in the pan in oil. lol All meat is automatically organic/hormone free, all vegetables are organic, everyone has there own "ducha" summer house that they grow there vegetables, no pesticides typically. Everyone walks too, that doesn't hurt. It basically taught me that fat isnt the culprit, all the additives, hormones, pesticides etc... are to blame. My husband lived there for a year, moved to the US and packed on the pounds eating the same foods, he moved back for a year (for me to meet the family, get married etc...) got skinny, moved here to Canada with me, packed on the pounds, same food. haha I am really thinking of spending the extra and never eating additives/pesticides/hormones again! |
